I own and operate the real affordable tree service in Lawrence, Kansas and I get all my meat from checkers. And I'm healthy and happy. I love climbing trees. Thank you. Checkers.

Checkers is a gem of a grocery. At first glance, with the fluorescent lighting, it appears to be a store going out of business but that’s not the case. Checkers sells all kinds of international foods - from frozen tamales to bibimbap to soft blue corn tortillas. Many regional groceries don’t carry some of the things you’ll find here. Decent produce section but limited organic produce options (I’d love to see more). Their sales are amazing, sometimes I’m shocked at the low prices I’ve found there. They’re responsive to customer requests too. I asked that they start carrying a certain brand of bar soap and they obliged. I appreciate that they always have staff working in the checkout lines since I always have trouble with the self checkout. I hope that employees like working there; since I haven’t been employed there, I can’t weigh in on how it is to work there. Staff are always nice to me. Overall, it’s my favorite grocery in Lawrence.

Went there for their 2 day meat sale. They were busy but not totally cram packed. They have good fresh produce and fruits. Employees are very friendly. Prices are usually pretty good, better some days than others. The meat sale is always a great sale. Their building appears old and could use a renovation, but the store is clean. Recommend this store.

I like Checkers because of the quality and variety of its fresh produce section and also for their well stocked halal/mediterranean section. They frequently have sales on their items and they do infact offer amazing deals o their items. As someone who strictly eats halal, now that checkers provides halal chicken really helps! Also the price and quality of the halal chicken is really good. I wish they also did the same for beef/ground beef. The mediterranean section also has a lot of unique stuff we cant get anywhere else but in checkers, so that is always a must check out area for me whenever we go to checkers.

Fantastic experience for a non-chain grocery store! Drove past several times without dropping by (regret now). Pretty broad selections, and discount brands (Best Choice) are similar to Price Chopper. Produce selection is a bit limited. OTOH, frozen foods and meats have broad selections & better prices than Dillons. Center store aisles are good, too. They have electric pre-shave fluid! Great customer service at checkout, though it’s self-bag (but you have option of paper). There’s an in-house coffee shop, Mother Earth Coffee, too.

Been going for decades. Wonderful store and employees. Selection is superb and prices are usually unbeatable. Their foreign foods selection is appreciated. Aldi is my second choice so that should tell you something.

I really enjoy shopping at Checkers! They consistently offer great prices on fresh produce, which makes it easy to eat healthy without breaking the bank. One of my favorite things about this store is their impressive selection of international foods. I love trying new flavors or rediscovering the tastes of dishes I've enjoyed during my travels, and Checkers makes that possible. Supporting local businesses is important to me, and Checkers delivers not just in value, but in variety and quality. It's always a rewarding experience to shop here.
