Update: I am writing to formally document a very concerning interaction with Eric, the Guest Service Manager at Store 82. A few days ago, I submitted feedback regarding my recent in-store experiences using the website listed on my receipt. Eric called me the following day in response, but I missed his call. I returned the call today, 02/05/26 at 1:08 PM, and spoke with Eric directly. At the start of the call, I reintroduced myself as the customer he had previously contacted, and he confirmed that he remembered. During the conversation, Eric focused solely on asking for the name of a cashier so that she could be reprimanded. I explained that the issue was not one isolated incident with one employee, but rather a repeated pattern across multiple departments involving staff attitude toward customers. While I was mid-sentence saying, "The issue isn’t one incident with one worker, it’s a pattern across different departments…", Eric hung up on me. The call was disconnected without explanation, resolution, or follow-up. This was not a dropped call—I was actively speaking when the line went dead, and no attempt was made to call back. In my original feedback, I described a clear pattern of negative attitude being passed down from management to staff, and then from staff to customers. Unfortunately, Eric’s behavior during this call directly reinforced that concern. Hanging up on a customer while they are calmly explaining their experience is unprofessional and unacceptable—especially for someone in a guest service leadership role. Based on this interaction, I do not believe Eric should be handling guest service calls or customer complaints. His conduct shut down communication rather than addressing it, and it further escalated an already serious customer experience issue. I am submitting this message to ensure there is a documented record of this interaction and to request appropriate review and follow-up. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. —————————————————————————— Original review: I’m writing as a long-time customer who genuinely loves your store, products, and pricing. I shop here frequently and would prefer to continue doing so. Unfortunately, the customer experience has been declining due to staff behavior. Interactions increasingly feel unfriendly and unwelcoming. Basic courtesies like greeting customers, smiling, or responding politely to questions seem absent. Many staff members appear visibly bothered by any request. More concerning is the consistent feeling of being judged or stared at, particularly because we are younger than your typical customers. The looks and attitudes often come across as "do they belong here?" or "can they afford this?" No paying customer should feel scrutinized based on age or appearance, and certainly not on race or color. I truly don’t want to stop supporting a store I enjoy, but shopping here is becoming uncomfortable. Customer service training that emphasizes friendliness, respect, and professionalism toward all customers, regardless of age or background, would make a significant difference. If this continues, I’ll unfortunately take my business elsewhere, such as Whole Foods, where I’m consistently treated with respect and warmth. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as it’s shared with the intention of seeing the store improve rather than walking away from it.
I just have to rave about The Fresh Market’s Thanksgiving dinner! From start to finish, everything was absolutely fabulous. The food was beautifully prepared, perfectly seasoned, and tasted just like a homemade feast—without any of the stress. The turkey was tender and juicy, the sides were delicious and plentiful, and were a total hit with my family. The entire experience was seamless. Pickup was easy, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the meal was packaged so thoughtfully that all I had to do was heat, serve, and enjoy. Fresh Market truly made our Thanksgiving celebration special this year. I’m beyond impressed and will absolutely be ordering again. Thank you, Fresh Market, for making our holiday both memorable and delicious! 🦃✨
I like the little things that are speciality items. A place to find a fun little treat. Plus it's next door to Uppercrust Bakery. I get my fancy bread and a little treat. It's a great day when I can spare a little money and get some treats! I do wish it was a smidge brighter in there. Not by much though. I appreciate some moody lighting.
Whole Foods is so much better ! Prices are ridiculous and many of the items I went here for are not avaliable at this store anymore . On the last visit I encountered a fly on a pie !
I recently visited Fresh Market, and I must express my deep disappointment with the current state of cleanliness and overall hygiene in the store. It is evident that the management has significantly overlooked maintaining basic cleanliness standards, leading to an unpleasant and unsanitary shopping experience. We have shopped here for over thirty years. This last year this store has plummeted. Firstly, the display cases were visibly dirty, with noticeable oil stains, handprints, and even hair on the surfaces. This lack of cleanliness is unacceptable, especially for a store that prides itself on offering fresh, high-quality products. The presence of mold on the cheeses further highlights a concerning neglect in maintaining proper storage and hygiene practices. Additionally, the floors were in poor condition, appearing as though they had not been swept properly in some time. Dust was visibly accumulating in and around the cases, contributing to an overall sense of neglect. For a store that markets itself as a purveyor of premium goods, such disregard for cleanliness is deeply concerning. It is my hope that the management will address these issues promptly and take the necessary steps to restore the store to the high standards that customers expect. Until these matters are resolved, I find it difficult to recommend Fresh Market to anyone who values a clean and hygienic shopping environment.
One of the best places to get Sushi in Gainesville and way better than Publix sushi. Aung and the other sushi chefs are fantastic and will customize any sushi plates when they are available.
One of the best things about The Fresh Market in Gainesville is the bakery. In my department, Produce, the staff is very friendly. In the deli, some of them are not as kind, but when it comes to the cashiers, Amy is the best. She takes her time, packs everything carefully, and always separates cold items, hot items, and different products perfectly. She truly reminds us of what The Fresh Market used to be — a place known for exceptional packaging and customer care. Sadly, that quality has been lost in many cases, but thanks to Amy, we still remember what great service looks like.
