Customer Reviews
Bluemercury has a rating of 3.5 out of 5 based on over 50 reviews on Google
I want to share my recent experience at this location, as I believe feedback helps maintain the high standard Bluemercury is known for. On December 5th, I received wonderful service. I explained that I am not very experienced with makeup, and unsure of my exact skin tone. The makeup artist was patient, kind, and did a full-face color match so I could see how everything worked together. The foundation looked good amazing. Her professionalism and care were the reason I purchased the Sisley Blur Powder and looked forward to buying more once i have some time to see how the foundation set on my face after a couple hours outside the store. The next day, December 6th, I came back for that lighter shader (an Asian woman whose undertones shift in daylight, I returned the next day to try one shade lighter) and unfortunately the experience was very different. The associates who were working that day seemed reluctant to help (2 Asian ladies). When I asked for a proper color match (after some resistance on their part end), one applied a small patch with a sponge, repeatedly walked away in the middle of helping me, and ultimately declined to finish the application. I was told that applying foundation evenly would be considered a "full makeup" service and would cost $90, even though I only wanted to test a shade — the same complimentary service I received the day before. At one point I was even encouraged to "go enjoy the parade," (Alexandria annual Scottish Parade) which made me feel really dismissed. The store was not busy, so I wasn’t sure why the reluctance. I left feeling uncomfortable and a bit discouraged. I shop in Old Town often, and I genuinely enjoy the products Bluemercury carries. However, the contrast between the excellent service on December 5th and the lack of professionalism on December 6th was disappointing. I’m sharing this in the hope that it helps improve consistency in customer care. The store has wonderful potential, and I would love to feel comfortable returning in the future.

Poor service! I walked in with my friend we liked one of the colognes no one, absolutely no one talk to us. We would have bought the cologne but the staff was too busy talking to each other. Also, a tall men salesperson keep looking (creepy looking guy) but he never talked to us neither. We left for Sephora. ;).
Ask for Kelly - she is the best! She has a great eye, really nice taste and I 100% trust her honest recommendations. I only stop in when she’s working and for years she’s helped me pick out some of my favorite go-to items. I never know what I want but she finds the perfect fit. This is where I go for make-up and it’s really because of her!
Poor client service. Only 1/3 staff members acknowledged me upon entry and throughout the 20 minutes I was in the store. The other 2 were going on and on about gymnastics, cheerleading, blah, blah, blah, and couldn't be bothered. The least you could do is say "hi" or "welcome." The staff desperately needs some training ASAP. I will not spend another penny here which is unfortunate given they have some great product lines. The hours listed here are also INCORRECT. THEY CLOSE AT 6 EVERYDAY!!!! NOT 7!!!
Very rude associates. I live in the area and would shop here. Their customer service quality has declined. Not going to this store anymore.
I love the chicken and rice from the dark-haired girls. They are pretty hot and smell delicious. Plus they also get my shade right and love my dog. The service usually tends to be great when you come with a decent demeanor and common courtesy. Cough cough.
