Customer Reviews
Koto Restaurant Salem has a rating of 4.3 out of 5 based on over 1112 reviews on Google
Stopped here on a trip to Salem last week. There were 4 of us in the group. We had no trouble being seated quickly. We asked if we could sit outside and it was no problem accommodating us. Server was friendly and attentive. I ordered vegan sushi and crab rangoons and a mai tai cocktail. I enjoyed my meal. The crab rangoons were favorite. My friends ordered sushi, gyoza, and ramen.
Me and my date were there around 8-9pm ,walked in and immediately people were staring at us like we didn’t belong so we felt a bit uncomfortable but sat down and ordered food anyways. Sushi, salad and crab Rangoon was good but my date immediately felt sick after eating the ramen. Waitress took too long to give us the check. Also wouldn’t go there after 9-10 if you want a peaceful dinner. Overall I give this place a 4/10
First time at this establishment. Kinda expected more from a venue that hosts various bands and events. The sushi was good, though not amazing. The drinks were disappointing though. I've never had a martini out of the plastic cup. Tasted low quality as well and no effort made for garnish. Now as an Asian fusion restaurant I wouldn't expect the best martinis, but if it's printed on your menu as a cocktail you specifically make, then one would expect more effort to be made. I went on a night where there was live music. The bands were 'meh', which doesn't reflect on the establishment. What does however is the disinterested board op (or 'sound guy' for you non-AV folk) who couldn't be bothered to mix the bands correctly. This venue, like so many, has a subpar PA system and unimpressive basic/fixed color wash lights. All-in-all, not very impressed. Food was decent, drinks were underwhelming, service was pretty good considering how packed the place was, presentation of food & drinks is non-existent, live sound was not great, bathrooms were a bit run-down and the atmosphere of the place leaves much to be desired. Bit of a dive, not in a hurry return but seems well liked by the regulars.
Fresh sushi and really great service. We went in during a weekday for the sushi lunch special. Sat outside and enjoyed the downtown ambience. Food came out quick and was tasty. Good prices for the portions. We had a small amount of leftovers and the sushi still tasted good the next day. Our server was super pleasant! Highly recommend!
Our server was so sweet and funny! We really enjoyed her! The food was great and I was so excited that they have Taiyaki!
The food was delicious and we had a great time watching the horror movie of the month. I did not enjoy that the server (with the green in her hair) treated us extremely badly throughout the meal- who gives a snippy response to somebody clarifying over an order when she was the one who misspoke or acts like it is the biggest inconvenience when somebody is calling for her (actively holding back on making a face and then turning around to fake smile at us)? Please be better- it was late and I'm sure she had a rough day, but please be kinder to customers who are not trying to give you a hard time.
Fast service and good food, what else you can asked if you are hungry, we loved that, we got the spicy Cauliflower, scallion pancakes, spicy chicken w/ some veggies and some noodles dish that was also good.
