Fancy Sushi & Grill has a rating of 4.2 out of 5 based on over 577 reviews on Google
This was overall a restaurant that didn’t quite understand the art of a (great) sushi roll. Sushi in general ought to be smaller in nature…less rice more bite size. The food itself was good and fresh, they were just too large to consume in one bite. To put it in visual perspective, the roll itself was larger than the soy dipping tray. On a positive note the Yum Yum sauce was very delicious, however, when we took our to go bag, they wanted to charge us $.75 for the small little plastic cup.
This is hands-down, the best place to get hibachi in Palm Coast not only is the food delicious and the sushi is fresh the service immaculate I’ve never had a bad experience with anybody there and they really take the time to get to know you, especially if you’re going there a lot and they always ask how my family is and how I have been you can just tell they care about their customers and treat them like family. Whether you’re ordering takeout or dining in I can assure you they will provide you with the fast service and great tasting food and the lunch special is an amazing value for the amount of food you get truthfully you can’t beat it!!!!
I ordered the Tuna Tataki and the Rainbow Roll, and wow — absolute perfection on a plate! The tuna was seared just right, tender and flavorful, and the Rainbow Roll was fresh, colorful, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The place is clean, cozy, and has a peaceful vibe that makes you want to linger. Whether you're a sushi lover or just curious, this spot is a must-try. Highly recommend — I’ll definitely be back! 🍣
I normally don't write bad reviews but I just wanted to describe a recent negative experience I had here. While I enjoyed the food, I am quite bothered about what a member of our party experienced. The member of our party is smaller and has stomach issues. She normally orders kid portion sized meals because that is the portion she eats. When she went to order she politely asked the waitress for the kid portion. The waitress snapped a no at her. So she said "oh okay" as we were all shocked. Then she asked if she can just get a smaller portion and the waitress said no again. After being quite embarassed she had to get a side order of each item she wanted. I was quite disturbed the treatment of our party member. And guess what? The side orders ended up being the same price as the kids meal. So not even a financial benefit for the restaurant? I won't be eating here again and I recommend you don't either. I feel like it's valuable to treat other people like they have feelings and hey, if you aren't allowed to do something why not just explain real quick?
This is a place to get good sushi. It's a place that's kind of what you expect - a typical neighborhood sushi place (Its self-promoting name would give that away). But, it does have a couple of subtle things that, I would say, differentiate them from the mediocre rest. We were greeted by a friendly server upon entering and quickly seated. Soon after, our orders were taken. Everything we ordered was good and I would recommend them. We got the chirashi (various sashimi served over rice), a lobster roll, a rainbow roll and a scallop stir-fry. Also, a Sapporo beer and a shirley temple. - Chirashi is traditionally and invariably served in a bowl, sometimes resulting in a cluttered, crowded presentation. Chirashi at Fancy Sushi is very nicely (perhaps even expertly) *plated* with the various sashimi displayed on beds of shredded radish. The tamago (egg), ebi (shirmp) and kani (crab) laid separately on a cushion of rice. I was skeptical at first, but it worked! No more cluttered sashimi! - Usually, the soup one gets with an entree is nothing special: a clear-to-cloudy bowl of broth with some small cubes of tofu, perhaps a couple mushrooms. The soup here looked similar, but with some tenkasu (tempura flakes) floating on top. I wasn't expecting much from the soup, but I found it to have a deep, comforting umami flavor. I may have involuntarily smiled. The tenkasu gave it a nice texture. - For a neighborhood sushi place, I was pleased to find that one can order alcohol here, with a variety of wines, sake and beer on hand. Sapporo isn't on the menu, but I noted a couple of crates of it stacked in a corner. When I ordered one, they asked if I'd like the small or large bottle. Of course, I opted for the larger 22oz size. My little daughter ordered a Shirley Temple which came with a toothpick of a couple of maraschino cherries, a cute touch. - The other things we ordered were nice and typical of a local sushi place. There is ample space here, tables as well as a cushioned area. The bar is somewhat garishly lighted. We were well attended to and the servers were nice. So, is this place deserving of it's self-appointed moniker? Well, I'm an out-of-towner, but if I lived in Palm Coast, I'd probably be a regular. When you're in town, do drop by for "fancy" chirashi and a beer! —- second visit in Nov 2025 —— Presentation has improved over the couple years since I last visited. Although, I’ve noticed a Chinese-Japanese fusion, not necessarily a bad thing. For example, katsu usually comes with finely shredded cabbage salad dressed with a mayo dressing. Here, they come with fried rice and sautéed veggies. We ordered shumai as an appetizer (not pictured). It was mushy and over-steamed.
Delicious, fresh and rolls were enormous! Awesome service, family friendly. We had the Kingsway roll and it did not disappoint! We will be back.
Great place to meet someone for lunch. I had the lobster salad sushi, and it was amazing. It was my first time having that and the presentation was really cool. I had to add the photo. The staff members are friendly and they did not rush us. We had great service even the chef was friendly. The restaurant is clean and so was the restroom. Definitely recommend.
