My family used to go here when it was in Chinatown San Francisco, so happy to know they moved to Oakland Chinatown. They have the same cases and handwriting from years old, very nostalgic. The food and price are the same, both extremely affordable and tasty. I got everything in the photo for $18.50. I highly recommend their egg tart and pineapple custard buns.

Found Napoleon Super Bakery off of Yelp and so glad I did 😀 Most part of downtown Oakland aren't the best. Napoleon is in Chinatown. Streets are a bit dirty, and doesn't smell too great. Be aware of your surroundings. Street parking and be sure to read the signs! Now on to the good parts! I was a bit unsure how it would actually taste, so I first ordered 2 egg tarts and a pineapple bun. Went back to the car to eat (since the smells of the street were potent) and devoured both quickly. The egg tart is made well. Although not hot, it still had a great ratio of crust to custard. My comparison would be to Golden Gate Bakery. If you eat the egg tart from Golden Gate Bakery, they are still usually hot/warm when you eat it...but Napoleon's tasted just as good as Golden Gate Bakery imo if you waited a few hours. Also, we stopped by about an hour before closing, so I wasn't expecting anything hot. The plain pineapple bun were good too, so we decided to go back and order more 😀 I decided to order another half dozen of the egg tarts, some coconut tarts, cake, and a few pineapple buns. Pretty much anything they had available, I grabbed some to try it out so I could share with family. I didn't really get the prices, but it is definitely an awesome bang for your buck. I think normally the egg tarts are $1.50, but they mentioned since the crusts came out not up to their normal standard, they lowered the price to $1.30. I waited 1-2 days after to finish an egg tart and it was still so good without heating it up too! I am highly recommending Napoleon Super bakery. I hope maybe I can come in the morning one time (if I'm in the area), so I can see if they have hot baked goods available. If I'm near the Oakland area, I will ALWAYS try to stop by Napoleon to grab some treats 🙂 Follow the adventure @shoyuthebest on IG!

No fuss, no muss Cantonese bakery with sticky floors & cash only policy & you better know what you already want. It hits the spot if you're looking for cheap prices. Along with some of the buns & breads, all I could remember was trying both the traditional Cantonese & Portuguese style egg tarts; both good, but I've had better.

Always a line but that's how good they are! Possibly the best chinese egg tarts in the bay - smooth filing, super flaky pastry shell, mild eggy flavor, not super sweet. They have a dozen different types of baked goods. Tried their custard buns that looked like an apple turnover - 4/5 too little filing, but good fluffiness. No seats, service is pretty quick. Cash only.

We ordered a 10-inch multi-fruit birthday cake. It was very moist and had good sweetness level. It tasted very good. Too bad we didn't have time to try the other pastries. There is a line outside the door pretty regularly. With limited parking, we drove around in circles with a person waiting in line. After a few rounds, the line would shrink and grow again. Expect a wait.

Such a great bakery, and definitely one of the cheapest in town. Recommend the Portuguese egg tart and the custard polo. The egg tart was deliciously flaky and fragrant, while the custard polo had a great texture and traditional Chinese style custard.

If you're looking for some freshly baked Chinese pastries, Napoleon Super Bakery is a great place to visit. The baos are delightfully fresh and very reasonably priced. I love the filled pineapple buns here - the fillings are not to sweet and generous and the cookie topping is crumbly and delicious. I will note that the egg tarts are good, but I personally like the ruby rival's down the street a little bit more - I think the crust is flakier there - but these are still solid egg tarts that I wouldn't turn down. Like most Chinese bakeries, the staff don't speak much English and can be gruff, but the pastries are WORTH IT. Be bold...go get those baos!
