Great chinese restaurant, the noodles are very fresh and the meat tasty. The beef roll appetizer is a good size. Everyone liked the soup as well. My only wish would be a way to make the dish spicy without chili oil as it makes the dish even more oily.
This was our first time at this location. They didn’t have some menu items that we have seen at other locations. It’s a nice big open place with plenty of seating. Be aware of the tables where the air blasts down on it. They had plenty of staff. Good customer service. The best thing was the pork dumplings, which did come hot! Tastes delicious with soup inside. The fungus salad was a little too vinegar tasting. The seaweed salad was a good size. Tastes crisp and yummy! Chongqing Crispy Chicken was very spicy, even at medium heat!! Eat with rice…the perfect combo!!
Northern Chinese cuisine is so good! We were in the mood for some good dumplings and noodle, and I remembered that I wanted to try this restaurant Northern Cafe right by CSUN. It's a nice, spacious restaurant with plenty of booths and windows. The staff were friendly and the food came out on time, so that's a plus there. Now when it came to our meal, we definitely enjoyed everything that we ordered. We started out with Garlic Chicken Wings and Popcorn Chicken (not spicy at all, but delicious), and they both were great starters, especially if you like having the saltier side of your fried chicken. The Popcorn Chicken is almost addicting and it's easy to finish it before you know it. Then out comes the House Special Beef Noodle Soup which I think is almost a mandatory must-have. I did wish I went with hand-pulled noodles instead of the regular noodle, but you can't go wrong with any of their noodle options. The broth was, warm, calming, and steeped in the wonderful aromatic beef flavor, while the noodle and beef were cooked to near perfection. Add some (or a lot) of chili oil, and you have yourself some noodle nirvana! The handmade Juicy Pork Dumplings may be hot (caution), but slurping the hot soup out of them was half the fun! They were well made and were just a treat. 8 pieces are plenty to start so they're not stingy with their portions. Finally, the Angus Beef Fried Rice was our last dish and it was quite good although it fell a bit short compared to the other dishes. It's not that it was not tasty, it just wasn't as tantalizing and was a bit more one-note and could have uses a bit more kick in the flavors. All in all though, I'm looking forward to coming back to try more of their menu!
This is one of my wife's and my favorite places to eat. You are always great with a smile and a greeting. You have a big variety of foods to choose from. You will always be happy and fulfilled with the food you ordered. We have had many different dishes and were always pleased and happy with our choices. This time we had the Dan Dan Noodles and Orange Chicken and of course their delicious Pork Dumplings. We ate until we couldn't eat anymore so we took what we had left and had it for dinner. It was just as good as it was at lunch. If you like Dan Dan Noodles you must come early because when they sell out there are no more. You will be so happy that you ate here and tell everyone that you know about this place like we have. Come and sit down and have a wonderful meal and forget about all of your worries for a bit you wouldn't be sorry. ENJOY
This place is fantastic. The hand pulled noodles have a wonderful texture and are so much fun to eat. The spicy beef noodle soup has the right amount of heat and the broth is great. The beef also has its own unique flavor and is perfectly tender. The house noodle soup is delicate and delicious with tender beef and sliced daikon that has great texture and full of flavor. The pork dumplings are also delicious and I will certainly order them on every visit. The service was also great. The staff were friendly and attentive and all had a great attitude. I also enjoyed watching the noodles being made as I waited for my order.
Terrific, flavorable food. Noodles are absolutely on point - width of noodle and the chew. Service is always friendly and attentive. Noodles, Rice, Bok Choy, Dumplings were 😋😋😋 especially the Pork Wontons in Spicy Sauce. Definitely want to try one of their Soups when the weather cools off.
As an Asian-American who grew up overseas (INCLUDING living in Asia), I will say that this is hands down THE BEST RESTAURANT I’ve ever eaten at in all of Southern California. The flavors are AUTHENTIC, FLAVORFUL, and just downright DELICIOUS. It was my first time coming in today and I was blown away with how truly authentic the Asian flavors are, I thought for a second I jumped in a plane and flew to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore or any other parts of Asia I’ve had the privilege of dining at, the moment I tasted Northern Cafe’s food. The spring onion (or scallion) pancake is even better than the best I’ve had overseas. The beef wrapped in roti, the shrimp and chive dumplings, and the chicken fried rice were all exceptional. This is as authentic as it gets and the price is right. This is now my new favorite place that I would recommend EVERYONE near and far to drive to. OH, and to top it all off, the service is impeccable. Respectful, happy and helpful waiters who made our experience even better. 100% a new loyal customer.
