Sesame Inn

I’ve been coming to this place for many years. I think they did change ownership at some point but the food is still very good. Pictured is the house chicken, dumpling soup and sweet and sour shrimp. The orange chicken and Mongolian beef is also one of our favorites! They are a little pricey compared to other places but we always have leftovers and the portions are good sizes. We will be back for takeout soon!

Good food, good prices, sufficient quantities. General Tsao's chicken was really tasty and not overly thick with breading, the kung pao chicken was good with roasted dry chilies (but would rather not have the non-traditional celery), and the mapo tofu was ok with lots of ground pork but not enough spiciness and missing hua jiao pepper. Overall good value but not strictly authentic.

Use to come here 10+ years ago and loved it. So disappointed got Kung Pao chicken I ate a few bites. All dark meat with a lot of fat, tons of celery and scattered peanuts that was it. No union or bell pepper which is what I’ve always had in this dish. To top it off it lacked any flavor and was not spicy at all. Threw in the trash. To go only. Had I dined in I would have refused food.

After tasting the best beef noodle soup in Shanghai, I was on a mission to find a local Chinese restaurant that made authentic beef noodle soup. I ordered this dish from several restaurants in Thousand Oaks and Westlake, and was disappointed. Until I tried Sesame Inn. Not only did they provide very generous portions, but their beef noodle soup was the best in the Conejo Valley! What would make it better is if they added some sliced carrots. Ever since COVID, Sesame Inn became a strictly take out establishment - no dining in. This is a better model for them, since the restaurant is small and they've always had a strong take out business.

Ordered Mushu Chicken w/pancakes which was supposed to have shredded chicken but had more chunks of chicken than shredded. Pancakes were rolled in saran wrap and had to peel apart. Veggies didnt seem fresh. Dish was not tastey.

We absolutely love Sesame Inn. Our delivery driver Halleigh went above and beyond. She was prompt and friendly and even took the time to help my mother with her wheelchair while bringing our order to the door. Exceptional service and kindness. We highly recommend Sesame Inn.
