Stopped by Jook Hyang in Koreatown for dinner and it was a really solid meal. It’s a small, family-run spot that focuses on traditional Korean dishes, and you can tell they care about keeping things homestyle and clean. We ordered the Wild Pine Mushroom Porridge, Abalone & Ginseng Chicken Soup with Sticky Rice, and the Braised Short Ribs & Abalone in Soy Sauce. The short ribs and abalone were definitely the highlight for me. The beef was tender, the abalone had a nice texture, and the soy sauce flavor tied everything together really well. It felt balanced and satisfying without being too heavy. The porridge and the ginseng chicken soup were more straightforward, but done really well. Both were comforting and felt nourishing, especially the soup with the sticky rice inside. Overall, it’s the kind of place you go when you want something warm and traditional. I left feeling good after the meal, which says a lot. I want to comeback to try some other things on the menu.

If you’re craving healthy, soulful Korean comfort food, Jook Hyang in LA’s Koreatown feels like stepping straight into someone’s home kitchen — warm, nourishing, and made with so much care. 🫶🍲 We went all in and tried some of their most comforting dishes: ✨ Braised Beef Short Ribs & Abalone Melt-in-your-mouth galbi simmered in a rich soy-based sauce, paired with two whole abalone, chewy rice cakes, tender carrots, sweet gabocha, and radish. Every bite tastes deep, savory, and restorative. 🍚 Set Menu with Lotus Leaf Rice A full spread featuring fragrant lotus leaf rice, grilled croaker straight from Jeju Island, and a homey soybean paste stew that feels like the kind of jjigae you get at grandma’s table. Absolutely grounding. 🐔 Ginseng Chicken Soup (Samgyetang) A bowl of pure nourishment — whole chicken stuffed with sticky rice, simmered with ginseng, jujube, and garlic until the broth turns milky and rich. Perfect for warming your body from the inside out. 🍵 Red Bean & Sweet Rice Porridge Smooth, gently sweet, and topped with soft rice dough pieces. The kind of dessert that wraps you in a blanket. If you love dishes that feel like health, warmth, and home, Jook Hyang is that spot. 🌿✨

I had a very good experience with this restaurant. My relative stayed at the New Seoul Hotel and I discovered there was a good Korean restaurant there. I returned with my two friends and had dinner together. I initially thought they only served rice porridge, but there was a wide variety of dishes available. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the mixed seafood and Braised Kimchi, both of which were amazing. I also tried the pumpkin porridge, which I had never had before and found to be delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and left the restaurant satisfied. By chance, we met the owner of the restaurant. I complimented a plant on display and she kindly gave it to me as a gift. It was a wonderful moment for me. I will definitely be returning. 🙂

I recently dined at the Korean restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The seafood porridge, featuring abalone, was exceptionally tasty. The fried fish was perfectly crispy and aromatic. My child adored the beef steak, finding it tender and flavorful. The highlight was the seafood pancake, which was absolutely gorgeous. The service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff. The ambiance of the place added to the delightful dining experience. Overall, it was a memorable meal with a great variety of delicious dishes. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic and well-prepared Korean cuisine in a pleasant setting.

I recently checked out this spot in Ktown that a friend recommended for its abalone soup. They don’t use msg and it’s popular with locals for a healthy Korean meal. When we sat down we got a bunch of seasonal side dishes right away. They were pretty unique, especially the kimchi mushrooms and green seaweed salad. The chive pancake was also really good, packed with flavor and mochi like texture. We tried the grilled beef patties and LA galbi, they were both great. The beef was tender, grilled just right. Cold noodles were solid, spicy cold noodle were tangy with a nice kick. The highlight was definitely the abalone beef soup, the abalone always a good size and soaked up the beef broth flavor. The beef itself was incredibly tender and just melted in your mouth. We got the pumpkin porridge at the end as dessert, it was warm and comforting. All in all, would recommend!
