This restaurant called Spoon House was introduced to me by my wife's boss and I heard it has been in business for many years. We arrived at about 11:15 this morning, and there were still not many customers. My son and I chose to sit at the bar. The food in this restaurant mainly focuses on Japanese-style pasta. We ordered Napolitan spaghetti and Mentaiko spaghetti with sea urchin. To be honest, I think their Napolitan spaghetti is very ordinary. The carrots are cut into too big pieces, the onions are not cooked enough, and there is not even a piece of ham. It is very different from the spaghetti I have tasted many times in Japan. However, my son said his Mentaiko spaghetti was good. In addition, the $1 salad was also a surprise. Both the portion and the taste were of high standard. The service attitude of the waiter was also very attentive, which gave a good impression.
This is a nice little spot in the corner. I've been coming here for years for Japanese styled spaghetti. Everything on the menu is delicious and you can't go wrong with their $1 salad. They serve you fresh bread which you can also buy a loaf of for $3.
Confession time: I have driven past this establishment for 30+ years. A local friend invited me to dine here for lunch. She grew up coming to this establishment. The food was excellent, the $1 salad was simple but the dressing was amazing. The carbonara was on point and sampled the B'arco seafood pasta. This is a great place to eat: seeing families come in with little children slurping pasta 😋, elders getting their favorite dish. 10 stars for sure. Stop in for a plate, dont keep driving by, great food awaits.
Spoon House specializes in Japanese and Italian fusion spaghetti dishes. There's a parking lot behind the store for customers. I got natto spaghetti with shiso leaf, which was surprisingly very tasty. I would not recommend it to those that do not like natto (fermented soybean), but if you're craving something new and are familiar with the taste of natto it can be a fun surprise. The tarako spaghetti comes with options to add squid and seaweed, which I would recommend. It is a very tasty seafood pasta. The hot garlic spaghetti is also very popular, and I would recommend it if you enjoy garlicky flavors.
My wife and I came here and ordered the vongole pasta and meat sauce doria. Overall, it was a nice experience. The doria was delicious—hot, flavorful, and very satisfying, which is exactly how I like it. The vongole pasta, while fresh, didn’t quite meet our expectations. My wife loves vongole in general, but felt the sauce didn’t cling to the pasta enough and could’ve used a bit more flavor. Service and atmosphere were pleasant, and we’d definitely consider coming back to try other dishes!
I've been going to Spoon House for over 40 yrs. The food is the same great food they have always served. The noodles are made to order and your plates come steaming hot!!!! The prices have gone up drastically from the past as most places have. The portions for the price do not compare to other Italian places you can go to. But the food is worth visiting just not as often as i would if i price/ portions compared to other Italian eateries.
This is a really good place and they have an interesting menu. Their food is worth the price and the wait was not too long. They have really good fusion food and all the ingredients seemed to work really well together. I would really like to give this restaurant more than 5 stars and I forgot to mention that the service was also really good. Food also comes with bread and butter. It is a small restaurant on the corner of a street, it doesn't have many seats.
