Grey Ghost is not just a restaurant; it is a declaration of Detroit’s culinary arrival. From the moment you step into the chic, minimalist space — all exposed brick, dark wood, and perfectly tuned lighting; you know you’re in for something special. The atmosphere manages to be both upscale and genuinely relaxed, striking a perfect balance between a neighborhood haunt and a destination dining spot. The food execution here is simply flawless, covering all the bases from high-brow appetizers to perfect entrees. Must-tries include the decadent Chicken Livers and their spectacular Burger, easily one of the best in the city. For mains, the steak program is outstanding — specifically, the NY Strip is cooked and seasoned to absolute perfection, though the chef’s seasonal creations also shine brightly. The bar program complements the food beautifully. The cocktail list is arguably the best in the city, featuring creative, balanced drinks, and their curated wine selection offers incredible pairings across all price points. The service is equally deserving of five stars. Our server Hassan was incredibly knowledgeable about both the menu and the beverage list, offering genuine recommendations and ensuring our pairings were spot-on, all without hovering. This is professional, polished service that elevates the entire evening. Grey Ghost is consistently excellent and operates at a world-class level. It’s the perfect spot for a celebratory dinner, a date night, or simply for experiencing the best modern dining Detroit has to offer. Make your reservation early - it has consistently been a hype in Detroit and has retained that!

Grey Ghost is a romantic Detroit date spot with elevated cocktail offerings and a rotating food menu that will send your taste buds exploring unique flavors every time! This was our first visit after hearing many great things so I was very excited to be surprised here for dinner! We had a reservation for our dinner date before seeing a show at LCA (which is only a short 5 minute walking distance), and Grey Ghost certainly delivered a meal of culinary excellence in a modern, yet simplistic atmosphere. The muted lighting gave the restaurant a relaxed, intimate setting which made the experience so much more enjoyable. Every staff member from greeting us at the door to the food runners to our wonderful server, Jenna, showed such passion and guest service. Jenna was personable, attentive, and gave helpful recommendations with the menu. We started with the brussels sprouts and mussels. It was evident in the flavors and the way the food is presented that there is a high level of attention to detail. The mussels were extremely fresh and the Thai basil cashew sauce was the perfect, savory-salty balance. The Brussels, however, blew us out of the water with the lime garlic glaze. For such a simple dish, enjoyed every crunch! Delicious! Given the special night out, we decided to splurge on the hanger steak and the filet, both medium rare and cooked perfectly. Sometimes I am reluctant to order filet due to price point and the hesitation of a small portion or having it cooked wrong- I am beyond glad I ordered their filet and I HIGHLY recommend. The generous cut was about 12oz, cooked to complete PERFECTION, and completely melted in our mouthes. The cheesy parsnip lasagna pairing was chef’s kiss! While the hanger steak was less tender than the filet (hard to compare the two, really!) it was well-flavored and did not disappoint! The miso glaze that was on the hanger steak was absolute decadence, and will make you want to scrape every last bit off your plate. While the overall food and service experience is five-star, my only issue is with the dining layout. Besides a few stand-alone tables and one half-circle booth, much of the seating consists of the banquette and chair style (a bench on one side, chairs on the other). The placement of these tables felt crammed, making it difficult to get in and out of the seat without bumping or having to ask the neighboring table to scoot in. It's a slight detail, but giving guests a bit more privacy while dining and would elevate the comfort level considerably.

Had a lovely evening here with my dad and chose the tasting menu. We were welcomed with a complimentary glass of champagne thanks to the incredibly kind Jenna, which set the tone right away. Each course was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor, and the drink pairings complemented everything beautifully. We left completely satisfied and smiling. This is a place we will happily return to.

Food is quality food, my partner ordered the fish and i got the burger. I do say the burger wasn’t the best one i’ve ever had but it was definitely good quality but not legendary as some may think it is, the service was excellent too. The dessert was 10/10 though the crème brûlée was marshmallow campfire flavor and it was one of the most unique desserts I've had. Would love to come back for drinks and dessert next time, i enjoyed both of those things the most.

First visit for us. We had a great time. Stopped by after a show in the evening. We didn't have reservations but we waited less than 15 minutes. Great choices for drinks, non alcoholic as well. Really enjoyed the malted vinegar french fries and brussel sprouts as appetizers. Looking forward to trying out the steak next time. I also appreciated the gluten free options and a separate gf menu. Great staff!

We had a very good dinner at Grey Ghost on our recent Detroit weekend getaway. We had the chef's tasting menu with the beverage pairing and were not disappointed. The atmosphere was lively and the service excellent.

I’ve been hearing about Grey Ghost forever and had really high hopes. We’ve been to Little Ghost (their fast food spot) and I fell in love with their burgers, so I expected the sit-down experience to be even better. I took my wife here for an early birthday dinner and we left super disappointed. The $20 burger was honestly way worse than Little Ghost, the burger itself didn’t hit, and the sauce at Little Ghost is so much better. Then dessert came out with a plastic ring baked into it. Our waiter was very apologetic and removed it from the bill, and said it was an O-ring from the ice cream machine. Stuff happens, but what really bothered me was the manager never came over to apologize or explain anything especially for a place charging these prices. We spent almost $100 on pierogies, fries, two pops, two burgers… and a plastic ring. Not the birthday dinner experience we wanted. We won’t be back.
