The Middle Eastern pastries are very good. We've bought them several times, and the quality is always consistent. Since I often go to Morocco, I can tell you that the Zlabia are identical to the ones there. As for the other pastries, being French, I'm not a big fan, but that's just my personal taste. The pastries are beautiful and very well presented.
High quality lebanese sweets with huge variety. U crave it they definitely have it . Been going there for over 20 years the quality and flavors r always consistent 👌 must try !
I grew up in Michigan, and my mother would take a weekly trip to Dearborn to pick up Middle Eastern foods and treats. Now that we live in Charlotte, North Carolina for over 6 years, those flavors always bring back warm memories. No place in NC comes close to Shatila! A friend of my mother-in-law recently sent us a gift from Dearborn with two different sweets (pictured in my review). While my family enjoyed them, I found myself wishing she had sent the baklava with pistachios—the kind I fell in love with after years of my mom bringing it home from Shatila Bakery. That baklava was unforgettable: delicate, fresh, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, so different from the prepackaged treats we received. You must go to Dearborn and experience this bakery! It’s hard to find excellently prepared baklava these days, but this bakery (shipping straight from Dearborn) is well worth it. Shatila Bakery is a Michigan staple. Their baklava is exceptional: crisp, delicate layers of filo, perfectly spiced nuts, and a syrup that’s flavorful without being overly sweet. I usually get one tin, but I find myself ordering more to share with family and friends. 😄
I have never had this happen to me before. Went to get some cheesecake and chocolate for my brother's wedding anniversary and there was a staple inside one of the dubai chocolate squares. I chipped my tooth. Imagine if I swallowed it. I've been a customer of Shatila for almost a decade and this was unexpected.
Been to Shatila Bakery four times now they have a good variety of Arabic/ middle eastern sweets, ice cream and some hot breakfast items too. We came early this time about 7-7:30am best time no crowd! and the best part no parking lot shenanigans either! I had their kunafa it was okay kinda luck warm it's supposed to be hot...even the pastries were kinda stale the only thing that was done right was the zaatar pie that was good. There bathrooms are super disgusting!! so weird doesn't make sense because the restaurant is spotless. Service is super shady most times!...you gotta be on point or you'll get past over and cut in front of!
This place is famous worldwide for its sweets and for a good reason: it's been around for a long time and has been delivering a quality product with a remarkable consistency. The sugar-free baklava is not everyone's cup of tea, but it's quite good and much lighter than usual fare. The service is the same as it's always been, a big mess one has to labor through and hope for the best. The pistachio ice cream is a must-try.
