⭐️⭐️ Addar Restaurant was honestly a disappointing experience overall, mainly because of what was missing rather than what was present. When you go to a restaurant that claims to offer this style of cuisine, there are certain basics you expect to find on the menu. Not having mandi at all is a major letdown, especially when it’s one of the most well-known and sought-after dishes. What made the experience more frustrating was the absence of dagoose—the essential hot sauce that’s traditionally served with rice. That sauce isn’t an optional extra; it’s part of the identity of the meal. Without it, the entire experience feels incomplete, and it honestly raises the question of why the restaurant is even positioning itself this way if it can’t deliver on the fundamentals. That said, credit where credit is due: the fahsa was fantastic. It was rich, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. The texture, aroma, and taste were all on point, and it showed that the kitchen is capable of producing genuinely good food when it focuses on what it does well. Unfortunately, one good dish isn’t enough to balance out the overall disappointment. A restaurant should be judged on the full experience, not just a single item, and missing key staples creates a sense of confusion and unmet expectations. In the end, Addar Restaurant earns two stars. The fahsa saves it from being a complete miss, but the lack of mandi and dagoose is a serious flaw that can’t be overlooked. With a more complete menu and better attention to essentials, this place could improve—but as it stands, it falls short.
We stopped by to try out the breakfast. This is a very traditional yemeni restaurant. They have the best yemeni bread by far.
This place his the nail on the head every time, from the food to the service to the atmosphere. Even though I'm not Yemeni and have never been to Yemen, I feel a stamp of authenticity on every dish they serve. The ingredients are fresh and of high quality. Every time I go here, I find myself liking it more and more. This is a truly special restaurant, one of my favorites in the metro Detroit area. I highly recommend Aldaar to anyone seeking a truly exceptional experience.
My favorite Yemeni food restaurant. Exquisite service, food is delicious only problem is the place is a bit small but the food and service make up for it. Private tables at no extra charge, in case you and your loved ones want a little privacy while you eat. I ordered the haneeth with rice, and fahsa with the big fresh bread. It comes with soups and salad (which they bring out the second you touch the menu) oh and the owner is always there he comes out and serves himself.
Tasty flavorful Yemeni dishes in a traditional setting. Had both the lamb and tuna fahsa, also the lahm seghar. The double tanoor bread was heavenly. I suggest adding more vegetables to lahm seghar if you like so. Environment and setting was traditional Yemeni.
Very disappointing experience. I invited friends for breakfast on October 5, 2025, and the service was extremely poor. Only one staff member was trying his best, but management was clearly lacking. Long wait times, limited items — they even ran out of Adani tea for our group of five and gave us only two . No warm water available for a child. Overall, not worth the visit especially for a breakfast. I’d recommend choosing another place.
First time trying this restaurant. The hostess was moderately friendly and got us table as quickly as she could. What got our attention was the kindness of the young lady that served the salads and recommends the foods. We wished that we had asked her name to acknowledge her here. Food was phenomenal and generously proportioned. We have the mendi chicken.
