I cannot say enough great things about Black Pelican and the incredible service they provided for my private event. From the very beginning, their team went above and beyond to ensure every detail was thoughtfully executed. They were extremely helpful with coordinating the table layout, setting up and supporting the A/V equipment, and guiding us through a seamless menu selection process that perfectly fit our event. On the day of the event, everything ran smoothly and effortlessly thanks to their attentive, professional, and friendly staff. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully prepared and enjoyed by all of our guests, but the level of service truly took the experience to another level. Every request was handled with care, and the team made us feel supported from start to finish. If you’re looking for a venue that delivers exceptional food, outstanding service, and a stress-free event experience, Black Pelican is the place. I would highly recommend them for any private or special event and look forward to returning again soon!

We have lived in Chesapeake since 2018 and have not been in this restaurant until the other day. WOW!!! Food and service was top notch AAANNND it was affordable, too. Are you actually kidding?! The trifecta of any fantastic restaurants. It was so awesome that we came back the very next day with our kids and had even more great time. THANK YOU to Maria and our second server (I’m sorry, I forgot her name but she was just as big of an asset as any MVP employees) who made our experiences so lovely.

Entered the restaurant and was greeted with a smile. We had to wait due to being early for our party reservations. Went yo the bar to have drinks while we wait. When we were told that our table's ready, I stood up. We were trying to get the bar tender attention. When to manager that was standing there turned to us and said are you cashing out. I replied no, our table is ready. She said you have to cash out , let me get you bartender. That has never happened at any place before nor did I have a problem with cashing if its there policy. Its just the approach and the way it was addressed. Paided and took our own drinks to the table. Everything things else was great. I did ask our server the policy on the bar to table and explained the details. He said no you dont have to cash out unless you the customer request it. I thanked him and his customer service to our large party. (Let's be fare to all and follow the company's policy and not pass judgment due personal judgment.) Loved everything else and the live music! Everyone else, the bartender, host and server great job 👏 Happy New Year!!

Tried Gulfstream Tuna Bites as an appetizer which came with Chips and salsa. I had medium cooked and it was juicy and very good. For main dish tried Baked Shrimp and Crab. It was crab meat and thank god I did not had to break the crabs. It was very creamy or cheesy. It was excellent taste with baked small shrimps. Sometimes overcooked shrimp will become rubbery like texture but it was perfectly cooked. Excellent taste and worth to try. This is definitely my go to dish when I visit again. I ordered French fries and Brussels sprouts. Roasted brussels sprouts, which was shredded and excellent taste. I may try this at home. All the items I tried were recommended by waitress and excellent choices. Waitress was very active and friendly. Atmosphere was also very good. Definitely must try out place in Chesapeake. I better recommend to reserve the table before you visit.

Visiting the area for a family members home-going service and decided to dine together as a family of 12. We made a reservation and was promptly seated. Our waiter, Walter, was extremely patient and helpful during our decision making for meals and appetizers. My chicken florentine was very delicious however one of the larger pieces could’ve stood a few extra minutes on the grill. He quickly took the under-cooked piece and had the cook to prepare me a fresh piece. I left totally full and satisfied! We were so distracted by catching up as a family that we didn’t even realize the restaurant closed at 8pm. We were not hassled to hurry and leave but were allowed to just fellowship together in our time of grief… that was the most outstanding and special part of the experience. I would definitely return if I’m ever back in this area!

Had dinner with 8 friends. Linda, our waitress was just perfect. We have a loud group, and I am sure she knew she had a handful. But she had a great disposition and took care of us. She was fun, and always there when we needed something. Food and drinks were great. Absolutely go again. Thanx Linda.

7/5/25 - Came for a late dinner at 8:30pm. We were greeted by the hostess and sat right away. There were 3 tables in our section. Our server was okay. She was good with our requests but kind of seemed a little annoyed by them. She only checked in on us once and the table across from us got checked on 3 times. They were there before us and already had their food right when we sat down. We got three specials. The chefs pasta and the mixed grill. I also got the soup special. The soup was the best part/dish. The steak and broccolini was the second best. The steak sauce was Jack Daniels BBQ but tasted ketchup based so my husband didn't like it, but I thought it was good. He also asked for it to be cooked medium rare and they made it medium well to well done. The server did take half off the meal due to that which I appreciate. The sauce in the monktail was okay It reminds me of some kind of gravy style but I can't remember the name of it. My chefs pasta had no flavor. It tasted like I was just eating cream. For the pricing I wasn't really impressed unfortunately. Maybe we just didn't get the right dishes this time and should not come before closing time..
