My visit to Krave Asian Fusion Restaurant for lunch was very good. The restaurant was nice and open with plenty seating both indoors and outdoors. The open layout, coupled with three large TVs, created a relaxed atmosphere suitable for enjoying a meal or catching up on some much-needed sports highlights. LOL While parking in the center was a bit tricky, the short walk from the parking area was manageable, just nothing open directly in front of the restaurant. The customer service at Krave Asian Fusion Restaurant was great, despite the bustling lunchtime crowd. I was promptly attended to, and while the order took slightly longer to come out, I appreciated that it was freshly cooked to order. The order was entered correct even with the changes I made to the menu items. Now the food. I ordered the lunch meal of 4 strips (substituted for wings), 2 drumsticks, and sweet potato fries. While the chicken in the strips was slightly overcooked, it remained enjoyable, with the drumsticks and strips boasting a satisfying crunch. I chose the Soy garlic and Chinese chili sauces, which, while decent, didn't quite stand out as exceptional. I felt that additional sauce might have enhanced the flavors further. The sweet potato fries were very good with a combination of sweetness and crunch, especially when paired with ranch dressing. In terms of value, the price of the lunch was reasonable considering the portion size and flavor of the meal. At $15 for 6 pieces of chicken and fries, it represented good value for money. Overall, my lunch experience at Krave Asian Fusion Restaurant was enjoyable, with the quality and quantity of the food. I will be back to try more menu items.
Great quality delicious food at a great price! Service was incredible as well. Got the loaded Kogi fries as a starter which was tasty and spicy, got a main of the Korean fried chicken strips (soy garlic was amazing and Chinese chili was really good as well, it was citrusy similar to orange chicken) and a delicious cheesecake for dessert. Beers were good as well, really impressed with this spot!
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food here. When we got here, it wasn't really busy. The ambiance is industrial chic. There was only one lady managing the whole restaurant but she did a good job of managing everything. We ordered Taiwanese garlic noodles, pork pot stickers, Japanese Curry chicken Katsu, the bibimbap and the soju drink. The soju was decent. The best of the whole lot was the Thai chicken curry, followed by the Japanese Curry chicken Katsu. The pot stickers and the bibimbap were good but came a joint third. The portions were big enough that we took quite a bit of the food home between the two of us. Parking is in the common parking area here. There is a bar next door where you can continue your party when Krave shuts their door at 9 pm.
Food was great. Large portion sizes and delicious flavoring. The Korean wings aren't the regular tiny wings you will get at most restaurants. Had Mango Habanero & Chinese Chilli. So kick as you would except but did not overwhelm the flavoring. The Japanese Curry Katsu is now one of my daughter's favorite dishes and loved the plating. Appetizer are good size and perfect for sharing. Udon soup was done perfectly and great option for kids (before we realized they do have a separate kids menu).
Overall, the food was not bad and service was good. The pork gyoza was just OK though. Oddly, with the bibimbap they served Korean red pepper paste mixed with vinegar? Normally, it is not served this way. For our family...The restaurant had a feel of being more like a bar and not a traditional setting for a Japanese restaurant. Not a bad experience but probably wouldn't go again, to be honest.
Unexpected delight for Korean food cravings Looking for Korean food but stumbled upon this hidden gem instead? They have ample parking and other great restaurants nearby! Must-try dishes: * Bibimbap (delicious!) * Korean Fried Wings (super good) * Tonkatsu Ramen (very tasty) * Udon Noodle Soup (great option) * Taiwanese Garlic Noodles (absolute MVP!) The food was fantastic, and the menu offered a good variety. I'll definitely be back to explore more!
I felt honored to be invited to participate in a soft opening event for Krave Asian Fusion. Although their menu is heavily invested in various Korean Fried Chicken dishes, there are also noodle, burger, fish, and vegan options available (although I didn’t find any Gluten Free items). Executive Chef and owner Will Chen was present and was careful to explain that this isn’t his first launch, but rather an expansion of his initial footprint first planted in Orange County, California (where his fried chicken has been recognized as award winning). Both the number of courses and portions at this event were generous. Each of the chicken dishes featured very distinctive flavors with my favorite being the "Chinese Chili" offering. It was covered in a sweet and crispy shell with a tender and flavorful chicken center that reminded me of the Lemon Chicken dishes that I’ve enjoyed elsewhere. A close second for me was the "Spicy" version. I sampled it immediately after the "Mango Habanero" (which was pretty spicy and created apprehension about the "spicy" dish that was to follow). Surprisingly I found the "spicy" dish to be less so than the "habanero" dish. To round out the chicken dishes I also sampled the "Soy Chili" (which I found crispy, but not as sweet as the "Chinese Chili"), "Lemon Pepper" (which was a bit salty for my palette), and the "Taiwan 5 Spice" (which had a very thick and crunchy shell). Their other offerings included "Taiwanese Garlic Noodles" (the garlic smell was wonderful and the noodles were light, but buttery, possibly because they were sautéed in olive oil) and the "Loaded Kogi Fries" (the Sriracha Cheddar Sauce was a 2/10 on the hotness scale while the Jalapeños achieved the high score of 6/10). If you enjoy Korean Fried Chicken, Krave is worth your time. And that’s…Henry’s Take. #sandiegokoreanfriedchicken
