★★★★★ I came to Deep South Family BBQ for a simple to-go brisket order. What I got instead was a full-length, interactive experience in How To Lose Track Of A Brisket. Timeline of events: • Waited ~45 minutes. • Asked about my order. Plot twist: they realized they forgot to make it. • "5 more minutes." (Classic.) • 15 minutes later: "Brisket just came out of the oven… it needs to rest another 10 minutes." At that point I’d officially been sitting there for an hour, so I canceled and they refunded me $52. Credit where it’s due: they did apologize and refund without a fight. The funniest part? Over the restroom there’s a sign that says, "Flush twice, it’s a long way to Washington, D.C.." Which is hilarious coming from a place that couldn’t manage a brisket ticket in a 10x10 kitchen… but is somehow offering commentary on how the government runs the nation. Respectfully: maybe start by running the order screen. Anyway—shoutout to them for inspiring tonight’s actual dinner: hot honey garlic ginger sockeye salmon + Napa cabbage salad (made at home, by me, in 12 mins). 😄 5 star because I know they should have a good food and good people working there. They are young and still learning for sure. I love to come back when you think the brisket is ready, fresh and juicy and finally give it a try.
Must try items: Deep fried pies (all of them, especially the seasonal specials) BBQ EGG ROLLS or BURRITOS when on special Half chickens Pulled pork sandwich, crispy fries, and a variety of sauces. Did I mention WINGS?! That Korean BBQ is my fave. And the lemon pepper made with actual lemon juice. Fried biscuits and the Florida Sampler 🤤
Stopped by coming through the area and seen it as a suggestion. Staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu options. They were out of spare ribs but i ordered the half rack of baby back ribs and pulled pork dinner. Sides for both were baked beans, greens and mac & cheese! The sides were plentiful and just the right amount. Only thing for me I’d say is , if the greens had just a tad bit more seasoning as it tasted bland in the middle, Mac & cheese was ok, but baked beans were great!! Overall a good pick up headed back home
Small and super welcoming place to get some really good barbecue. We aren’t locals, but greeted as though we are. There are a few inside picnic tables and more outside. We ordered the bacon wrapped tots, chicken sandwich plate, pulled pork sandwich plate and the specialty cranberry pomegranate spiced lemonade they were offering. Our sides were baked beans, mac & cheese, collard greens, and potato salad. Food came very quickly - not a healthy choice, but those bacon tots are brilliant! Crisp crisp bacon around a fluffy tater tot worth any dietary concerns LOL. The meat is nicely flavored- we tried all the sauce offerings and the mustard was our favorite. Was disappointed in the "vinegar" sauce, not a discernible amount of vinegar and too thick - more like a standard BBQ sauce. The bottles on the tables were pretty dirty/sticky -which really is our only complaint. The meat was good and we enjoyed each of the sides with the baked beans being outstanding (rich and lovely flavor) - Do not change a thing with those beans! Having tried BBQ all over the US we’ve struggled to find any in Florida that we truly would go back for, until now - if we are in the area, we will absolutely stop in again.
Been wanting to stop in here for quite some time but it was never open during my travels. This week, to my surprise, it was open. The pulled pork sandwich was pretty good, not the best I’ve ever had. I give it an 8.5. Fries were under cooked. Someone thought it was a good idea to add parsley to the Mac & cheese, this was a very bad idea. This was probably the worse idea ever tasted and no one at our table indulged past a few bites. The sweet tea was perfection. No garlic bread! Probably the first time I’ve not been able to get garlic bread at a BBQ joint. It’s fairly warm inside the dinning area, which consist of a very small area with picnic table seating that can difficult to get in and out of. The only restroom was large and clean. The staff was super friendly. The grounds were immaculate.
Yall. We have been coming here for a year now and I seriously don’t know how we survived on BBQ before them. Brisket is so good we have waited an hour and a half for it to finish cooking before! Hands down amazing food! They also cater! We used them for our wedding and the guest were all asking where we ordered from! 10 STARS!!!
Excellent BBQ and the best fried green tomatos around! I only need to add BBQ sauce on pulled pork/chicken, but everything else is well seasoned and flavorful! Service is quick and good about checking on you. My drink is never empty, which I greatly appreciate. The atmosphere is fine; what I appreciate the most is the cleanliness of the place. From the restroom to the kitchen, you can see that a clean restaurant is a priority. I also like that they are conscious of cross contamination, e.g. when handling money they wash their hands or put new gloves on.
