Brisket is soo fatty, cut way too thick and very hard. Mac n cheese was dry and tasteless. My whole meal was not good. The cheese curds were delicious though. The waitress was amazing & the only redeeming quality there.
We went there today cause. I heard good things about the barbecue. The chopped pork barbecue was amazing. The brisket was not even sliced against the grain. It was just pulled off of a piece, dry, no flavor and chewy. The ribs were the same.Hardly any meat on them and seems like they had been sitting around a while. The coleslaw was very good, beef brisket should not be just pulled off.It should be sliced against the grain. It was very dry
I’ve been coming to this BBQ spot for breakfast for a while, and when they’re on their game, it really hits the spot. They do the traditional stuff right—real sausage, crispy hashbrowns, and that no‑nonsense, old‑school breakfast that feels like it came straight off a diner griddle in 1978. But I’ll be honest: ever since the new owners took over, my visits have slowed down. The quality dipped a bit—not a disaster, just enough to notice—and the hours of operation have been… let’s call it "choose your own adventure." You never quite know if they’re open or just spiritually open. That said, the place still has a certain charm. Walking in feels like stepping back in time, like Flo from Mel’s Diner might pop out with a coffee pot and call you "hon." And yes, admitting that reference absolutely reveals my age, but here we are. Even with the hiccups, it’s still a nice little time capsule of a breakfast spot—worth a visit when you’re craving something simple, familiar, and fried just right.
I called this barbecue place today to order dinner for my family. They close at 2:00 p.m., so I thought I’d pick up some food and avoid cooking tonight. When I called, I asked for a family dinner and mentioned that there were three of us. They assured me that this would be plenty. However, as you can see in the picture, the food was hardly enough for one person. I added six chicken wings to the "family meal" just to make it look like I was getting my money’s worth. The barbecue itself was disappointing. The brisket was extremely dry, the chicken was overcooked, and the ribs were okay, but that’s all I can say about them. The chicken wings were probably the best thing I had, but they were still just okay. My family and I will not be returning to this place. It was their second chance, and they stopped by for breakfast. The food was bland, but the waitress suggested that we try the lunch or dinner, which was supposedly better. On another note, how can you advertise a "family meal" and serve food that barely fits one person?
I’m not sure if people are being paid to leave these positive reviews or what but the food I got does not correlate with the reviews. The collard greens were just flat and hard and completely tasteless literally not even salt. The "brisket" was two giant slices of straight FAT!!! The beans and the Mac and cheese were MUSH, my baby wouldn’t even eat it. I couldn’t pull out one full noodle or bean if I tried. Corn bread was cold as if was refrigerated? I’d assume at a barbecue place you’d sell freshly made cornbread? Would the Texas toast still have been frozen as well? TBH everything just seems warmed up from yesterday. If I wanted leftovers I’d have eaten at home not spent $50 on it.
My brother in law and I went to check out the bbq. As we walked in, the smoked meat smell was fabulous. Our waitress was kind and friendly. We were served fast. My pulled pork was so dry and bland. The collard greens were bland even after adding pepper sauce. However, the fried okra was the only good thing I had. My brother in law's brisket was tiny, bland, and dry. For the price he paid, it was extremely disappointing as an "dinner" size. I doubt we ever go back.
Had a GREAT experience at biguns today! It was my first time here and brought my family out to lunch. We chose the right place to go! We all shared our meals so we can get a taste of everything. We had the brisket, pork, ribs and country fried steak. Brisket tasted really good. Pork was delicious. Ribs were big and delicious! The country fried steak was out of this world! For sides we had Mac n cheese, collard greens, sweet potato fries, coleslaw and mashed potato’s! Everything was delicious. And the corn bread was moist and slightly sweet😋 I just wish the collards had a little more flavor (I’m so picky with my greens😩) overall great experience!❤️
