Blacksauce Kitchen is well known around the city for dishing up those big buttery biscuit sandwiches we've all seen at the farmers market. I finally had the opportunity to try their brick and mortar location in Remington for a delicious early afternoon bite. Blacksauce is a quaint little shop with limited seating options to enjoy your food. I decided to grab my food to go and pop a squat down the street at R. House to eat my lunch. The staff at Blacksauce were welcoming and very friendly. I decided to go with the Cider Braised Chicken Biscuit, Sweet Potato Donut, and a Smoked Apple Cider. The chicken biscuit was yummy, especially with the addition of the onion jam which seemed to appear more prominent and even more flavorful once the sandwich was cold. I enjoyed the sweet potato donut however, I wanted more of a sweet potato flavor to shine through. And the smoked apple cider drink was just what was needed for the cooler weather. I follow Blacksauce Kitchen on IG and they always seem to have some really creative dishes they make on a weekly basis. I definitely plan on stopping by to try more of their lunch/dinner style food on a Thursday.

Let's get into it!!!!! Ooooo weeeee!!! Blacksauce Kitchen is the truth. The menu changes daily so let's get into Thursdays (Aug 17th) menu choices. We ordered 1 of everything left on the menu: Oxtail biscuit, doubles, mac, cabbage, cobbler, fritters, sorrel and limeade. We stayed inside the restaurant to make sure we tasted everything fresh and hot. They have one table and a bar top with stools for dining in. 10/10 my favorite was the cabbage. Perfect seasoning, heat, cook - no complaints whatsoever. I could eat a pot full. 9/10 my second favorite was the oxtail biscuit. The picture below speaks for itself. Ghr biscuit was PERFECTION!! I could've used some kind of sauce or wetness on the oxtail. The fried onions were on point. 8.5/10 the fritters were great. The each chow chow gave it that extra edge. Because it was served in a recyclable container all the chose chow juices were absorbed in the container. J think it should be served in plastic. Or foil placed in the container. 7/10 the Mac was good. 8/10 Sorrel was great. We actually created a half and half of sorrel and limeade and that was fire 10/10. The doubles were good but could've been cooked longer. The only thing we weren't fans of was the smoked cobbler. Wag too much smoke for my taste. The smokey flavor overwhelmed the cobbler. Most definitely going back to hit another menu soon!!

I did an online order for a rotisserie chicken apricot biscuit and it was delicious! My order was ready right on time for the time that I scheduled to pick it up. It was also a nice portion size, which I loved. The peach jam on the biscuit really made all the flavors standout!

Had their yuzu plum donut when they were at the Ekiben Night Market today. It was one of the best donuts I’ve ever had. Not too sweet, great citrus flavor, and the crunchiness of the donut on the outside was amazing. I hope you guys make it a regular part of your menu because it was the bomb.

The food here is AMAZING. Blacksauce is essentially a carryout but the food still has that home-cooked vibe. The small shop is only open on Thursdays so keep that in mind when planning your visit. The woman inside who took our order was very patient and informative when we asked questions about the menu. As for the food itself: I ordered a beef short rib sandwich with a side of smoked corn fritters and a blueberry limeade. The beef was so tender juicy. The corn fritters were a new flavor for me that I enjoyed; they had a nice texture too. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Almost seemed like they were fried but either way they were delicious. And the blueberry limeade was so refreshing on the hot day I went. I definitely need to hit this place at least twice a month.

Extremely clean place with great customer service. All of the staff wore masks and gloves and changed them appropriately. I was greeted when I walked in. They were professional. These are all things you can't say about a lot of establishments during these times. If you like smoked meats then this is the place for you. I ordered the maple mustard barbecue wings. The sauce was good, my only complaint is that it was barely on the wings. I didn't taste it until I saw some of it in the container. I also ordered a strawberry limeade, coconut milk braised collards, and sweet potato pound cake. Disclaimer needed for the greens. They were too spicy for me to finish. They were covered in seeds, I'm assuming that is where the spice came from. The meat was def my fav. Everything else was okay.
