That Korean fried chicken is to die for. The seasonings are perfect. The chicken and the ribs went great with the Mac salad and rice. The owner was super friendly and welcoming. Loved the vibe. The only thing was that patrons from nearby food trucks will take over the tables when only a couple people from the large group are actually eating.
Rating: 2.5/5 [dine in] We saw on their Instagram that they’re selling the food truck and moving back to Hawaii, with their last day of service on July 18th, so we had to give it a try. The truck is located in a spacious food truck park with plenty of tables set up on green turf and a decent-sized dirt parking lot. We came on the last Saturday around 1:30 PM. There was a 45-minute wait, and they had already run out of the weekly special (garlic shrimp). To our surprise, their timing estimate was spot-on. The portions were big and everything looked delicious, but the meat themselves were all lacking flavor so you’ll 100% need the sauces. Austin Food Adventure Special ($16.50): Kalbi, chicken katsu, a slice of spam, two scoops of rice, and one scoop of macaroni salad. The chicken katsu was nicely breaded and fried but was tasteless, so we ended up dunking it in the katsu sauce. The kalbi didn’t seem marinated and was equally flavorless. Surprisingly, the spam was the best protein on the plate but the standout item, though, was the macaroni salad. Red Rocks Special ($16): Korean fried chicken, teriyaki chicken, kalbi, two scoops of rice, and one scoop of macaroni salad. The Korean fried chicken wasn’t crispy and had a bland batter. The teriyaki chicken had a nice char and was the best of the proteins. The kalbi and macaroni salad were the same as the other plate. We left feeling disappointed and weren’t sure how this place received such high ratings. We ate everything fresh so we can't imagine how the good would taste like after being taken home.
Fantastic Hawaiian BBQ and very generous portions. We ordered the Korean Fried Chicken, Katsu Chicken, and Surf & Turf. All 3 dishes were spot on! Perfect crispy textures on the fried chicken, katsu, and garlic shrimp. Get plenty of the spicy shoyu sugar sauce. It paired great with everything, and they also have a spicy mayo to go with the fried chicken. I have a sweet tooth, so my favorite thing was the Ube Butter Mochi. Never tasted anything like it, and I got the last one tonight. The owners are from Hawaii, and they know what they're doing! Can't recommend enough.
Such a yummy dinner! We got several dishes for my birthday and everyone loved it all. It brought us back to being on the island just a few months ago. We had the pork, KFC, katsu and the shrimp. Can’t decide which one we liked best, because they were all so good. I especially liked the sauces that came with it. And portions were good for the price point. And you can never go wrong with the authentic musubi! Will be back!
We were recommended to visit here on our trip to Big Island, Hawaii and it did not disappoint. It’s the perfect food fix if you’re craving authentic Hawaiian food. The owners are kind, friendly and also from Big Island. The red rocks special is great, since it includes a mix of teriyaki chicken, kalbi short ribs, and popcorn chicken. I recommend getting 2 sides of Mac with 1 rice because it complements the meats so well. The serving is so generous that one full size could almost be shared between two people. The buttermilk mochi was subtle in sweetness and delicious. There are shaded picnic tables to sit and eat there as well.
I just had this for the first time and Inmust say 10/10 across the board! Amazing family biz. I had the Teriyaki Chicken, combo plate and one of their special chickens that was only around for a week. I highly recommend them keeping this one. All I know is that It starts with an O and you have to have it!
Came here for the first time celebrating their 3yrs anniversary. I ordered the pork belly plate and the mixed plate (kalbi and fried chicken). The fried chicken was a bit dry, but everything was delicious. Kalbi was flavorful and juicy and the pork belly, although the plate was smaller than my other plate, it was tender and flavorful. I also had their fruit mui (marinated mixed fruits). Prices are pretty decent. Staff are very friendly, lots of shade, tables and chairs to enjoy meals at. Lots of other lunch wagons in the area. Parking is limited and I would recommend using the restroom before you come unless you don’t mind using the portable potty that’s been sitting in the heat all day lol.
