Customer Reviews
Hanshin Pocha Austin has a rating of 4.4 out of 5 based on over 95 reviews on Google
Leaving a 5 star review because I find it unfair that people are giving 1 star reviews on Google when they are in the soft opening phase and food is coming out slow. That’s normal. We walked in on Monday night and it wasn’t really busy at all. We ordered their chicken feet, whole chicken, rice balls and La Galbi soup. The food came out super fast, and the service was very attentive. I came with my baby and I’m not sure if they had high chairs but luckily I brought my own. The chicken feet were excellent. Nice and spicy, might not be great if you can’t handle spicy but it comes with a side of soybean sprout soup that you can add to the dish to tone it down. They were tender and packed a lot of flavor in each bite. The whole chicken was the star and they broke it down table side. Perfectly crisp and nicely seasoned. The la galbi was disappointing because the galbi was too tough but the noodles and rice cakes were good. I would say overall a work in progress and technically I would give them a 4/5 but to balance out the unfair reviews I’m giving them a 5/5. Service was super attentive and they checked on us every 5 min. We didn’t have to ring the bell ever but low key wish they checked on us a bit less.
Amazing food and such a cool atmosphere! Never been to something like this and glad they could bring it to Austin. Everything we had was 10 out of 10 even on a busy holiday.
My wife & I went here to try this place out for the first time. When we walked into the restaurant, we were not greeted at the door. We weren’t sure where to go to talk to a greeter to get a table. Eventually, we walked to the bar area & a girl greeted us warmly but she told us there going to be 1hr wait for a table. Luckily we were not in a rush so we put our name down anyways & went across the street to the Hmart to get some groceries. When we were finally seated, we were so hungry & were so ready to eat. Considering the wait time, I assumed the food was going to be amazing. Well, we ordered 4 item from the menu: stir-fried spicy squid, stir-fried spicy chicken w/ melted cheese, 5 soy garlic wings & 5 sweet/spicy wings. The only dish that stood out was the stir-fried squid. The wings seemed a bit rushed although I thought the flavor wasn’t half bad. The stir-fried chicken w/ melted cheese was a bit disappointing. This one definitely looked overlooked. The chicken was a bit charred at the tips. The was more black colors on the chicken pieces then not. The melted cheese was left on for too long. As you can see in the picture, it was burnt underneath. I couldn’t really get a good feel of the flavor because the burnt flavor of the cheese & chicken was too overwhelming. I literally had to scrap the cheese off the pan really hard to get some pieces off. One of the server was kind enough to comp the burnt stir-fried spicy chicken & melted cheese from our order. This is why I gave them 3 stars instead of 2. I understand this was the restaurant’s soft opening. I really hope they do better to get these things corrected by the time their "grand" opening comes, otherwise they will get a lot of bad reviews. I really wish the business much luck moving forward.
My husband and I came here and ordered the chicken feet (served with fried rice cooked right in its cast-iron skillet at our table) and the fried whole squid. It was a generous amount of food, and everything was incredibly delicious. Our server, Bryce, was fantastic—friendly and attentive. We’ll definitely be back!
Food was amazing and not heavy on our stomachs. Service was 10/10 I highly recommend for a good night out.
Food and atmosphere is great. Good place to hangout with friend and family.
Fun place to go with a small group of friends. We arrived around 5 and service was fairly quick and the staff was very friendly. We ordered the hanshin dakbal (chicken feet), the stir fried squid, and the donkatsu. The chicken feet had a nice flavor but was much too spicy for us personally. The stir fried squid also had a good flavor but a more manageable spice level. The donkatsu was very good with a gravy sauce that's not too sweet like some other katsu dishes I've had. I would say the portion sizes for the first two were good for a single person but the donkatsu seemed like an unreasonably large amount of food. Might prefer a smaller size and lower price to match. As more people arrived for dinner you could tell staff was slowed quite a bit and found it hard to manage all the requests. We used the call button for containers and the check and we waited for 5-10 minutes until I decided to just go to the front desk. They helped me right away and we were out of there soon after, but the staff was always kind and helpful so I don't judge too much given it's a soft opening. The atmosphere is all good in my opinion but maybe some others would find issue in the noise level or the street stall design.
