Went here for a date with my partner, and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. They had every book we were looking for, and an absolutely fantastic employee, named Lacey, helped us find everything we wanted, and even talked us into buying a few books we'd never heard of. The only reason I don't give it five stars, is because I have a bad knee and need to sit down and rest occasionally, and there was no seating compared to other B&N stores we've been to, so I had to spend the second half of our date sitting at the cafe while my partner shopped alone. Still, I would absolutely go again, and I plan to

The gentleman at the kiosk was fabulous. Even had to look for a manager to sing his praises. They are always helpful and kind when we go in

Overall, I do like B&N and I'm glad that I have one fairly close by. However, from experiences with this store over the past few months, I can't give more than 3 stars. It's a mixed bag. 1. Pricing. I realize that the focus is on the in-person store experience, but I just can't justify paying full price for a book when it's available elsewhere for considerably less 9 times out of 10. And I'm not just talking about Amazon. Last week I picked up a newly released book at Target which was $10 less than at B&N. This seems to be typical. 2. Multiple times I've picked up books that were ordered online from the front desk and left before realizing they were blemished in some way (such as a bend in the cover). I now check every time before I leave. They seemed to try and clear books that someone wouldn't pick from the shelf in-store by giving them to those ordering for pickup instead. 3. They usually have a lot of staff walking around the floor but often only 1 or 2 tops at the checkout area. This means you are welcomed in and have a great experience while browsing or if you have questions, but then the customer experience is let down at the very end of your visit once you're left waiting in line to purchase. You'd think staff would walk over to jump on a till when the line gets longer, but they rarely take notice. Instead, the checkout staff have to thank everyone for waiting. 4. Magazines tend to be late to arrive to this store and their system doesn't keep track of them well either. I've had this experience with a few different magazines in the past. I called in earlier today to ask a member of staff if they had the December issue of a certain magazine in stock yet (the issue was released to stores a week ago). Not only did they not have it yet, but I was told that according to their system they no longer stock it. I asked if their system showed whether they had the November issue, and was told no. When I let the staff member know that I was in store just this past weekend and they had a stack of the November issues on the shelf, and so perhaps there was an issue with the system, I was told 'Maybe if you just come in to the store to look for it later, it might be there'. How difficult it would be for someone to walk over and check for a magazine I don't know.. apparently too difficult.

Barnes and Noble is a store that offers many forms of media. Number one is books. They have the best selection of music on vinyl and CD in town. Every section is smartly posted and fun to browse. There is also a sit down coffee shop. The help is cheerful and helpful.
