Ronald J Ballou Bookman

I like this place, but it needs more chairs to read and benches and a podium for authors & reader & poets for annunciation of subjects and stories. Great selection of books in an alphabetical order of subjects.

Ronald was very welcome and helpful. I walked in on a whim to get some old books appraised and he dropped what he was doing to help me out.

Ronald J. Booksnob is more like it. This location came up on a "bookstore near me" search, so I thought I'd check it out. Opened the door to a darkened room. "Ronald" I assume was sitting with alone under a single desk lamp. He seemed annoyed that I was there, told me that his business was by appointment only and that I should leave. I said, "ok, fair enough" and did as he asked....never to return. Instead of this place, visit the Book Cellar, which is an actual bookstore in Lincoln, California. They can find rare books too, without the condescension.

Repaired our family bible excellently. He has many treasures. Check his store out.

I am so happy to have discovered this little gem of a store. After perusing the local thrift stores and Antique Treasure Trove, I decided I would try one more shop in my search for a hard to find book that had become outrageously overpriced online. I poked my head in the door, and with low expectations inquired about its availability. I was stunned when the gentleman stood up and indicated that he believed that he had a copy. Sure enough he did! I was so relieved to find the book for an excellent price. I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with the Bookman and am looking forward to returning again to peruse his collection.

Many interesting and beautiful old books. Owner was polite, helpful, and knowledgeable. We gave him a broad idea of the type of books we were looking for, as well as a price range, and he directed us to a section with many great options. After we had made a selection and were preparing to leave, he told us that there was still much more left to explore. Definitely didn't get the unwelcoming vibe that other reviewers reported. Additionally, soft classical music played in the background, which enhanced the atmosphere.

I had the best time buying from Ronald, what a great scholar and passionate book enthusiast. He has an impressive collection of classics in leather-bound editions that any collectors MUST see to believe. I walked in his store and spent about 2-3 hours talking about books and bought about 20 books from him. I will be coming back for more in the future.
