Driving through Rushmore crossing saw my favorite store waiting for me to shop there. I did buy a book and gift cards. The staff were so helpful and friendly. My understanding the store is over 20 thousand square feet to shop, they have a café there that I need to indulge my taste bud's. I'll be back for more shopping in this big store.

Loved it. Came here multiple times a week while living in Rapid for a few months for work. This place felt most like home. Every purchase gets you a few dollars off at the café, so I just kept coming back. B&N is a big franchise but this is a special place and I hope your town can cherish it. The staff are very kind and take great care of their selections. Please try the quiche at the café.

It's great to see that Barnes & Noble has made an incredible comeback. It wasn't that long ago that Jeff Bezos and his crew at Amazon were doing everything they could to bury this company. No joke. They tried every trick under the sun to put Barnes & Noble out of business, and actually came close to succeeding. Thank goodness, he failed. Instead, Barnes & Noble gives us a brand new beautiful store for Rapid City. It's got a great and upbeat layout, plenty of books shelved for the community within the Black Hills. Not every Barnes & Noble is the same. Management and its employees shelve products based on the desires of the community. I really enjoyed the History section and found it quite extensive. I could have spent hours there, but we were on the way back to Custer City. So, next time you're visiting Mount Rushmore, you can be at this Barnes & Noble in less than half an hour. Stop in, get a cup of coffee and a slice of cheesecake. I highly recommend the cafe. I had the strawberry cream cheesecake. It's one of their limited varieties, like the Pumpkin Spice so if you happen to see one on the shelf, grab it because it might not be there next time. Have fun and enjoy reading!.

My dearest Reader, How I wish to walk beside you for a while, browsing books aisle by aisle, searching the shelves for great stories told, enraptured as their tales unfold. My dearest Reader, my fellow lover of literature, how I wish we could meet for coffee and talk all day about the novels we’ve shared. Did Dostoevsky’s Raskolnikov overwhelm you with such anxiety that your palms began to sweat, that your heart raced until you had to quit? Did Tolstoy bring you to tears when Anna had to sneak back into Sergei’s room on his birthday, after his father told him she was dead? Did Rice’s Interview with the Vampire leave you clawing for your own humanity as you struggle through life against your own nature? My dearest Reader, Look here on the table — All the Light We Cannot See! The way Doerr sets each scene, I forget I’m even reading, as frame by frame he transforms my mind into Oscar-worthy cinematography. Did Marie-Laure’s love of Jules Verne reignite your own? Oh dear reader, I would love to take you around the world, to travel 20,000 leagues beneath the sea. What sights we would see, what adventures we would share. My dearest Reader, just across this café, you’ll find a shelf titled Travel, where we can visit islands previously unknown. Look here — just now I found São Tomé and Príncipe. What a Portuguese paradise! Of white sandy shores and granite spires erupting from a jungle floor. One day, we should truly travel there and farther still. Perhaps to Kipling’s jungle, where Shere Khan prowls? Would you like to see deserts as vast as Herbert’s Dune? Or visit the empire in Kuang’s Poppy War? My dearest Reader, I want to read Jane Austen with you as we travel by train, speaking in bad British accents as we practice our finest Regency etiquette and period dialogue. I want to joke with you about how Sarah J. Maas has unwittingly written the most popular manga series yet to be drawn. Like children, I want to scour the woods for good fighting sticks to reenact Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac, shouting "Non, merci!" and poking each other with our noses as we recite, "At the envoi’s end, je touche!" I want to pretend we’re two of Dumas’ Musketeers, fighting our way out of impossible odds, singing, "All for one, and one for all!" My dearest Reader, If we could be kids again, could we rush through these shelves of Legos, build X-Wings and 1960s Batmobiles, while our parents alone gasp at the price tags? Could we stay up late and skip school to binge-read the entire Percy Jackson and Harry Potter series in a single week? My dearest Reader, Today is my daughter’s birthday, but unlike Anna and Sergei, there will be no heartwarming reunion, no hug, no kiss. Just a heartbroken father. Just another birthday missed. Like casting out a message in a bottle, I can only hope you are a Reader here. If so — it’s all true. I wish I could do it all with you. My dearest Reader, I love you, Dad

Ooh lord my wife is gonna be in trouble! Place is immaculate. Such a huge selection to choose from. Love all the seating so you can pick a book and chill. Also, a great assortment of food, snacks and drinks. Go to spot for just about everyone!

Probably the best B&N I've ever been to. It's big and we'll designed, with shelves that make it easy to find books. The coffee shop is huge. In the back there is a large children's areas with toys and books.

This store outshines Books a Million by several orders of magnitude, almost to the point of being comical. While they sell tons of degenerate gibberish like any American book store, they don't shove it down your throat as aggressively as BAM. The staff are kind, the ambiance is immaculate, and there are often large groups of people having interesting meetings in the coffee shop. They sell a lot of interesting stuff. On my last few visits to the coffee shop, the service has been excellent and a real treat I look forward to when I come to B&N. But this time (6:25pm, Tuesday, January 13, 2026) it was quite bad. The sour young man failed to greet us, and made us wait for about five minutes in silence without so much as a glance before facing us. His disgruntled appearance was unnerving. When my wife politely said "We're ready when you are," in an effort to indicate she was happy to wait since he was busy, he rolled his eyes and shot her a dark glance. We walked out and went to Black Hills Blend instead because this person left such a negative impression.
