I went with my sister and 5 yr old niece to look at books for gifts. As local small business owners, my family has been trying to support small business during the season. Before we could get in the door completely and I said hello, she didn‘t greet us and she stated she we needed masks. Stopping us in our tracks, unsure why and not having masks, we didn’t move any further from the door. I ATTEMPTED to ask her if she had some available BUT before I could finish my sentence, she asked us to leave and said she didn’t want our business for no reason. Taken back by the unprofessionalism treatment. She was rude, disrespectful for no reason. We were confused and surprised by the treatment we received as customers by the owner. Not to mention as we were trying to leave, she brushed by us, PUSHED past my 5 yr old niece to lock the door, which pissed me off. 😡 If it wasn’t for my sister telling her about herself, I would have called the police. We left and she locked the door!!! I have never been treated that way and I rarely write reviews but this was completely unprovoked! Shame on her!
Masks are required, yes thats true not a typo, as of 7/24/25. We stopped in there in hopes of checking it out, whereas we were intrigued about the store credit you can get for turning books in and checking out the use selection of books out of publication as the sign says. And yes, as you walk in there is a sign on the door mentioning that they're mask friendly and that masks are required. But as we all know, there's many people that never took those signs down off the doors. So for the most part I didn't put any faith in that. However, as we walk in the cashier was quick to be ready to hand over some masks for us to wear and I responded. I'm sorry I can't wear one of those as I'm allergic to them. And no that's not a lie. My face does break out and her response was do you have medical papers to prove it and she was so condescending about the way she responded that my response was; Nope because we don't need to shop here and we left I would have considered suffering through if something had cut my eye right off the bat but when you first walk in the place what you smell was old books. It's small and it's cluttered and it does look like there's a lot of stuff in there. However, I don't know because we really never got past the front door which is a shame because we use books in our business and it could have been profitable for them. Our visit but had I been greeted with a more approachable conversation regarding the masks I might have thought about it but the attitude said it all and I won't give a business like that my business.
The employee (possibly the owner?) still requires that you were a mask which is honestly fine it's her business BUT she is extremely rude about it even if you are nice to her.
I'm a fan. They ask you wear a mask to help with the immmuno compromised- no problem in this day and age. Happy to find some good quality paperbacks.
Don't ever go here. She will throw you out as soon as you step through the door if you aren't wearing a mask. And she won't even be nice about it. She'll kick you out very abruptly and she'll be very rude about it. Don't spend a single penny here.
Lady kicked me out immediately. I drove up from Burlington without knowing about the mask policy. When I walked in she immediately asked if I had a mask, which I didn’t. So she kicked me out and refused to talk to me. Very sad.
Not open half hour after the poster opening time, no sign or indication why online. I'll stick with driving to Worcester, far better location (and they don't require a mask)
