3 out of 5 stars because I saw an associate use the restroom, left without washing her hands, and then proceeded to work at the Starbucks cafe inside. She licked 2 fingers and her palm and turned around to start making someone’s coffee order without washing her hands. I was going to ordered, but after seeing that I left the books I was going to buy and walked out. This was the 1st time I’ve ever been to this location and loved how big and busy it was until I seen that. It was a complete turn off for my shopping experience. Also due to rent skyrocketing Merced closed their store, so now it’s a mattress place. I have to travel about an hour to Modesto or Fresno to make in store purchases. Buying online isn’t the same as holding and feeling a book in your hands.
We went in to use the cafe, and we got magazines (free to borrow), coffee, and treats. All of it was what we expected: good food, decent drinks, and reading material to keep us occupied. I rated it 5 stars; not because we were blown away by the experience but because it was exactly the simple experience that it was supposed to be.
It's nice to be able to go into a book store and actually look at a book before buying it. I spent over 1 hour enjoying my time enjoying my Starbucks looking at books. The staff was very helpful locating a book I was looking for.
I like this bookstore kind and caring helpful staff. Lots of great books to read and buy. I find myself not wanting to leave the store. I would recommend this bookstore to anyone.
Sadly The One and Only book store left in town where you can enjoy a cup of coffee grab a book and relax. I love her assortments, always a lot to choose from! Large spacious store with attached Starbucks & outdoor seating. The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable.
They have many adult, teen, and children's books. The children's section has a great little reading area which is rather cozy. There is every genre you can think of available. There are ebooks and digital audiobooks if you are also interested in those online. They have a section dedicated to toys, puzzles, games, and entertainment. I love the Lego section and the selection. There will be pics below of some of the Lego sets I picked up here. You tack in the B & N membership discount, and they are a pretty good deal. As far as I know, the discount applies to everything in the store. There is a lovely little cafe for a latte and pastry if you are so inclined. As an added perk, you can order online and select pick up in-store if interested. I highly recommend this store.
This is our little getaway bookstore! My partner and I enjoy coming out here from time to time! We played a game this time of choosing three books depending our our first 3 letters of our names. We enjoyed looking through them and it was a great way to skim books that we would not have chosen otherwise! 🙃🙂
