If you’re at all into old cool books and have that pickers itch for sorting through rows and piles and stacks of them just to find the One, then you absolutely have to go here. No joke next time I’ll bring a power bar so I can stay longer. Welcoming in all ways including pricing. Thank you. I love the 2 books I took home and the experience. Don’t miss out on sections like mysteries without cats!, magic, guns and ghosts🤓Go.
Barber’s Book Store is a hidden gem for book lovers and history buffs alike. Stepping inside feels like traveling back in time, with its vintage charm and carefully curated selection of books. Whether you're searching for rare finds, classic literature, or just a quiet place to browse, this store has something for everyone. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, always ready to help you discover a new favorite or share the history of the shop itself. It's more than just a bookstore—it's an experience, filled with nostalgia and character. If you're in the area, Barber’s Book Store is definitely worth a visit!
Solid book store. Interesting books. I got aviation books. Descent selections.
I have driven past this place for years and decided I wanted to find it and go in recently. I had a hard time finding it online, but was able to ask around for the name and street (since I couldn't remember exactly). The books were greatly varying on subject matter, there is a large presence of history and art which was cool. Most of the aisles fit my manual wheelchair, but then I would have to backup to get towards the small center in order to turn since none of the aisles had enough space at their ends. There is also an entire upstairs, but I didn't get to see what it has since there's no elevator. It was cool, very much Inkheart feel, but I probably won't put it on my regular visit rooster since I can't move about easily.
One of the more distinctive, wonderfully labyrinthine bookshops I've been to--and I've been to quite a number of second-hand bookshops by now--where whimsy, rich variety, and organization reign. The proprietor is a colorful, friendly character--a truly charming Texan, with all that the compliment entails. Whenever you find yourself Downtown Fort Worth, do stop by and enjoy this rare gem; you're most likely going to find a book you never knew you needed, which you'll cherish greatly, and all for a GREAT price! Did I mention? The prices are very fair and not inflated, ESPECIALLY in the prime location this shop finds itself (I always assume a storefront in a downtown district will have gratuitously inflated prices; not this shop!)
Incredible old bookstore, cramed to the brim with books. Most are older, but this is a good thing, as it makes for a very diverse, and unique selection. The cookbook section is amazing (the rest are too, don't get me wrong), and you are pretty much guaranteed to find something special, if that is what you are after. Highly recommend.
I really give Barbers a 3.5. I walked in and the gentleman sitting at the desk in the front barely looked up. I said hello and he didn’t say anything back, perhaps he didn’t hear me or maybe a bad day? However, he wasn’t the most friendly and didn’t ask if I needed help or anything. They do have a vast selection of books and the prices are reasonable. The layout of the bookstore is such a fun layout, sort of like a corn maze. The store is also in a good location and in walking distance if your doing anything downtown.
