Restoried Bookshop

One of my new favorite bookstores!! The owner Justin is such an incredible, kind, and knowledgeable person who always takes time to chat about the latest book or social issues or even food recommendations in the city. The bookstore itself is stocked with both familiar and unfamiliar books (for adults and children) and goodies mostly by or about the Asian diaspora, which is so meaningful especially because it’s the first of its kind in Chicago! I’ve been several times now and will continue to frequent this amazing space. Go follow their instagram for info on cool events and book clubs!

Love the selection of Asian American books in this bookstore. The curation is on point! If you are into Asian American lit, this is the place to be. I saw a lot of familiar titles but also titles I’ve never seen. Justin is friendly and gave recommendations for my 7 yo son as well. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in Chicago!

Welcoming bookstore both on atmosphere, staff and the books they carry. They have a large selection of under represented authors. The owner is very knowledgeable about the books in the store. They also carry tarot cards, birthday/thank you cards, stickers etc. they also have a used book section for 50% off.

This place is magic. I’ll share this review from the perspective of a parent of a wee one. I’m still trying to get my 3 year old into reading more regularly, but going here feels like an adventure for her even if she doesn’t want to pick out a book. The owner knows kids and is so sweet with her and very intentional about making the space a warmly intergenerational environment. For example, rather than making me feel unwelcome because my toddler wanted to dance in the middle of the store, the owner engaged my kiddo and encouraged her joy while also chatting with me and helping other patrons find their books. I was so grateful that I didn’t have to rush out and was instead able to stay and find a book for myself and a birthday gift for a friend while also having my very silly toddler in tow. Restoried’s book selection is rad, including the children’s books. This place is committed to serving the community, is a fantastic bookstore, and deserves a visit (even or especially if you have a wee one <3).

Phenomenal bookstore! The owner is so friendly and it very much has the cozy vibes of your new favorite community bookstore. Thoughtful and intentional curation and lovely decor! Can’t wait for my next visit! Very glad to see this unique addition to the Chicago indie bookstore scene!

What an incredible bookstore! Welcoming and open from the moment you enter, beautifully curated and displayed selection of new and used books I wanted to read and others I’ve now added to my list! Also so appreciate the community-building group offerings. I will be back, and am lifting this up so others can discover!
