This was my first time visiting this location, and I have to say it was a pretty cool experience. I usually go to Barnes & Noble specifically to check out the manga section, and this store had a very solid selection to choose from. The variety was impressive, and everything was well organized, which made browsing easy and enjoyable. I ended up buying a pretty cool Frieren figure
The place was very nostalgic for me. I grew up reading books and studying in the library and this was that atmosphere. I also had a large collection of vinyl records, CDs and DVDs, and this added to the nostalgia when I visited this Barnes and Noble. The shelves were not organized and books, CDs and DVDs were all not in good order. Had a hard time following the alphabet down the lines. The selections were fairly limited and there were a lot of old and dated and weathered items. With all this, the overall appeal and atmosphere was definitely positive.
I recently picked up this remembrance Angel for a gift after reserving it online. I questioned staff about a box or help finding something for it & was told too bad, take it or leave it. I bought it hoping to find something to wrap it up in, which I did. There were several stickers in the bottom full of old adhesive making it very difficult to remove & clean properly. I have only been in this store a few times and this was my last time.
On January 17, 2025, around 8:14 p.m., my teenagers visited this Barnes & Noble (Store #2263) after a movie and made a purchase totaling $43.07 (Transaction #7217). After completing her purchase, my daughter sat quietly on the floor near the shelves to begin reading her book. She was not disruptive or interfering with anyone. A female employee rudely and loudly yelled at her to get off the floor and told her she was not allowed to sit there, directing her to move to the café area. The tone and volume used were completely inappropriate and humiliating for a paying customer. Immediately after my teenagers moved to the café, an announcement was made over the speaker stating that all teenagers must be accompanied by an adult age 21+ after 8:00 p.m. There was no posted signage indicating this policy, and the timing made the announcement feel targeted and retaliatory. Barnes & Noble has always branded itself as a welcoming place for readers. Being yelled at for quietly reading a book after making a purchase is the opposite of that environment. This experience was disappointing and unacceptable.
Something about the layout of this particular b&n that's off but I'm no exactly sure how to describe it. Uninviting maybe if the vibe I'm getting because it's not as comfortable as some that I visit. It used to have horrible bathrooms when I lived in baton rouge but years later now that I'm back visiting it seems to have improved and I go there a few times a week. The few chairs that have sat in in the cafe over my visits here recently have been a very uncomfortable. I'm not a particularly large person with these chairs are very small and uncomfortable when trying to sit and enjoy a bit of reading and a drink / snack. I normally will get several books I'm interested in, sit read at least the first 10 pages, and that's how I decide what's going on with me, while at the same time spending money in the cafe so I hope that y'all read this and decide to put a little effort into the chairs. If not replacing them all together at least tighten the screws or replace the really loose wonky ones because the majority outside in actually all the ones I sat in were falling apart. I did find a selection nice though not as nice as I I was expecting at this location. I now live in Savannah Georgia and they're Barnes & Noble is insanely incredible.
Still better, and bigger than the newer Towns Center Barnes & Noble, which had only 2 one person restrooms which required coding access to. The magazine section at this Perkins Rove Barnes & Noble is much bigger less jam-packed and not over crowded stacking like the Towns Center Barnes & Noble. I enjoy looking though the magazine section, Perkins Rove Barnes & Noble is still the best. The Towns Center Barnes & Noble magazine section is only 2 large row of shelves jammed together too close, and a cluttered over stocked mess. The selections there difficult to locate, even if you had a step latter. Stick with the Perkins Rove Barnes & Noble for magazines, and more room.
Such a wonderful place! I used to go here with my mom when we lived in Hawaii and I miss it. I hope they stay in business for many years to come!
