I was hoping to love this place, but I only liked it. They have great prices and the used books are generally really good quality. They also have lots of cute toys, gifts, collectibles, etc., all seemingly new. As with all used book stores, the selection was hit or miss. I had read that they sold both new and used books, but everything I saw was used. There's nowhere to sit down, even for just a minute. I wasn't planning to sit and read a novel, but I was buying a number of books for kids and would've liked to have been able to look through them without standing the whole time (especially since I have a hip injury). Also, the books in the section where I did most of my shopping were so jam packed in the shelves that they were hard to get out, and forget about putting them back in. Also, no bags? Really?
Don't bother trying to call them. They won't answer! Lol! First you get a recording, and then after you press 0 to speak to an employee it just rings, and rings and rings, as if they are REALLY that busy? Ha! I just had a question, that if they had a True Crime section. So I went to Barnes and Noble where I got better service and knew they did. This store lost about $100 that day. 🤭 These people at this place do not seem to want buisiness...Or they need better employees who do their job. I do not recommend.
I visited here with my friends last Saturday at the request of a friend during our outing and loved what I saw. I found so many books I wanted, but I only bought two since my budget was tight. And they had more than books. They had DVDs, records, CDs, pushing, videos, old and new alike, and controllers. I will come here again for sure.
This store should not be considered when selling your nice things! They are a retail store with the primary purpose of making a huge profit. They will not give you a fair price for your preowned books or vinyls. As in my case, they would not pay me anything at all! I wasted 2 trips and my time. When I went to find out how much they would pay me for a nice book in perfect condition they said they rejected my book because they would not pay me a reasonable offer because the book retailed for $65. This is not good business. After reading other reviews I understand they want to buy extremely low and retail it high. I will not return to this place of business. I would not recommend it to others.
Be careful!! They are not required to check the cases. I bought a cd and went into my car to put it in, and it was an empty case!! Luckily I returned right away and the rep was kind enough to do a full return for me. I had them check all of my cases before I left, and they were kind enough to buff my discs before I left the store.
My Husband and I really like this store. I have also sold quite a few times now and the only reason i give a 4 star is for the selling of the books. Just dont expect much for the books most of the time, maybe a $1 a book sometimes. There has only been one time I got more than $20 for a book but they sold it for over $170 haha I should have paid more attention to its worth before I sold it to anyone I guess. I basically sell to them to get stuff off my shelves and maybe get a little more store credit. Other than thiet buying prices, we love it!
Love the new 2nd & Charles on Perkins. So many books at a good price. I also like the game board and mystery solving selection! I went to the 2nd & Charles in Shreveport and liked it so I was excited to see the new one in BR. It was nice, clean and organized. We also sold some books there and didn’t get much back but that’s expected. The process was relatively fast though. They have a screen that shows when your order is ready instead of calling your name. Our order had been ready for awhile but we didn’t know because they didn’t explain the screen thing. Will be returning for more book trips.
