Kinokuniya Bookstore - Santa Anita

Well, culture shock here I come. I know a lot about Korean books and K-Pop as I have a grandson, but I know nothing and I really mean nothing about Manga books or comic books or really anything that is in this wonderful Japanese store (please tell me it is Japanese). I walked in and this wonderful girl/woman employee must have sensed that I was just confused and lost. She was so sweet. She came up to me, the old lady without a clue, and asked how she could help. I explained that my grandson who is speech impaired told me he wanted Magna Blue Lock. I had no idea what he meant, but I thought this is Japanese--please. She smiled at me like I was her mother, and told me she knew what I meant and took me straight to a book called Blue Lock and said this is Magna. There were a lot of books but I grabbed that one like it was the last one on earth and asked what else might he like. This wonderful human took me through the store and it is loaded with the cutest things. All seemed fairly priced to me and this store is so cute, you just want to stay there. I ended up getting him a puzzle, pens and some plush thing that she thought he would like. He loved them all and I was the hero for a minute or two. I loved this salesperson. She never made me feel stupid, she made me feel safe. This store is in The Shops at Santa Anita. This place is such fun and you will love it. I love to learn something and I did and now I know where to go and this next time I will take my grandson with me.

Kinokuniya in Santa Anita mall is a great location to shop for Japanese manga, books, stationary, and most importantly Smiskis and Sonny Angels! I got a Smiski Toothbrush Holder for only $16.95. Prices are not marked up. Staff were very attentive and nice! Would come back for sure

Incredibly underrated bookstore and stationery store located in the Santa Anita Mall. I always go into the mall via the Gold's Gym entrance, make my way to the 2nd floor and this store is close to the Adidas and Uniqlo (also, two other essential spots to visit). They have an incredible selection of Manga in both English and 日本語 (I am currently N4 and studying for the N3 so I buy mine in Japanese for practice). They also have all sorts of writing utensils, toys, art books, Japanese language textbooks, you name ir. 10/10 store with 10/10 staff.

The Kinokuniya Bookstore is a love letter to Japanese literature and media. For many years, I always visited its sister location in Little Tokyo but found this one tucked away inside a mall of which I've never been as well. This location seems to be a tad bit smaller than the one in Little Tokyo, but this store, in particular, really has everything extremely clean, organized, and filled to the brim with anything related to Japanese media like magazines, manga, books, stationary, and etc. For this visit, they were currently getting ready for the holidays and had a lot of construction going on along with a non working A/C, which wasn't an issue for me. My only complaint is that the Little Tokyo location tends to have staff notes on recommendations for books by the shelfs and new manga and light novel series from the current anime season airing in Japan, which this location does not. Besides that extremely small complaint, I highly recommend this location to check out, especially if you don't want to worry about paying for parking and dealing with the LA traffic and navigation around the city

This bookstore is awesome. It has so much amazing products and items, especially ones from Japan. I was able to spot magazines for my favorite Japanese girl group. We came at a time when it was really busy, but I can imagine it's busy a lot of the time because of the interesting layout and content the bookstore has.

Kinokuniya in Arcadia is a treasure trove for Japanese stationery lovers. I recently bought a variety of items, including rubber stamps, postcards, and Traveler's Notebook inserts. The store is well-organized and the staff is friendly and helpful. It's a must-visit spot for anyone looking to explore unique and high-quality Japanese stationery.

Went in yesterday and wonderful young lady helped me create my daily/ journal planner. She helped understanding each brand and build my 5 in one pen. I cant believe I spent almost the entire day but had the best experience.
