Urban Aftermath Books

Stumbled upon this wonderful place today and had the loveliest time. The owner is very nice and passionate and the store is full of beautiful treasures to find, and some just for display. Also I am extremely impressed with the collection of sci-fi. It was very thorough and I found so many gems!

Urban Aftermath is a hidden gem. The books here truly transport you to another time — many feel like treasured antiques, and even the sound and scent of the old pages add to the experience. The selection is incredible, the prices are great, and the atmosphere invites you to linger. Hassan, the owner, is wonderfully knowledgeable and kind, always ready with a thoughtful recommendation or story behind a book. An absolute must-visit for any book lover.

Awesome little book store with lots of old and interesting books. It's got tons of cool stuff to browse, books, records, toys, clothes, and art from local artists. Hassan is a friendly dude and nice to chat with too.

Incredible store. Insane collection of classic and modern fiction. Lovely people. I went there with my girlfriend and got lucky to catch a performance of a young man playing Vivaldi. Standing ovation. A true hidden gem of Albany.

We had the opportunity to visit Urban Aftermath Books and I couldn't be more pleased with our visit. We were greeted by the shop owner Hassan and he shared the story of the business which includes the storefront, a warehouse and online operation. The storefront is Hassan's curated space and what a space it is! Surrounded by gorgeous books there is also an eclectic mix of toys, office supplies ie old staplers, and vintage vinyl. Hassan had also been building a poetry reading series that unfortunately Covid has ruined for the time being but hopefully he can start it back up later this year. I found it such a great place and Hassan is a wealth of knowledge, able to recommend a new author or book. I highly recommend stopping in and we will definitely be back!

The store is absolutely packed with books and trinkets! The shelves are well labeled by genre/author/etc as well as collection, for example they had a few shelves of stunning Easton Press leather bound books. There is a selection of vintage clothing as well. My new favorite used bookstore in the area!

Hassan and Leila run one of the coolest little used & vintage book shops I've ever been in. There's something for everyone here. My love for Penguin paperbacks was satisfied by their collection, which is one of the largest ranges I've ever seen in a used book store. They're also trying to revive First Friday art days in Albany, which is something the neighborhood could use more of. Definitely worth a stop in.
