Alchemist Nail Spa Kempsville

My first visit was absolutely amazing — great service and friendly staff! Unfortunately, my experience on my return visit was very disappointing. I went in last Sunday for a pedicure and French nails, and the total was $141. I paid for an acrylic overlay with gel polish, which should typically last at least two weeks. Today is Friday, and the gel polish is already flaking and peeling off. For the price versus the quality received, I would recommend exploring other options.

The tech I had wasn’t very pleasant. His work area and tools were dirty. When I brought it to front desk person’s attention he said "it’s just nail polish." No, his drill and heads were covered in dust. His UV was filthy and covered with old polish and dust. The tech was covered in dust too. Everyone else seemed to be cleaner but it wasn’t comfortable or pleasant. I brought my own polish but he was pretty thick with it. Already ruined less than an hour after leaving. The didn’t have a dry spray and he didn’t even put a top coat. Very disappointed and do not recommend.

I wish I would have avoided this place. It’s decorated nicely but nothing else. The technique and customer service are horrible. I was going to get a pedicure and fill but after the terrible experience with the pedicure I canceled the fill. I needed one acrylic toe and I got French. They literally gave me someone that couldn’t do either well. My toe is bulky and the paint job is sloppy and horrible. Staff continuously walked by while he repeatedly painted and wiped off polish numerous times. Nobody offered to help the poor guy. I had had enough and finally asked him to get help. The older lady wasn’t any better but I was getting stir crazy after nearly 2 hours. I explained to the girl at the front counter that I was not happy and they shouldn’t be assigning him to do those services and she offered no resolution other than for me to sit back down and see if someone else could do it. All that and I paid $82 for a crap job. Never again! I attached what I asked for vs what I got.

Edited* It's been a little over two weeks and my gel polish held up. I am happy with the redo. Thank you! Edited* The owner was quick to respond to the issue and redo my nails. I am really happy with how my manicure and pedicure turned out. I will see how long these last and post my final review in a few days/weeks. I really wanted to write a better review, but unfortunately I am unhappy with how my nails turned out. I got a gel manicure 4 days ago, and the polish is already lifting and chipping. On my gel pedicure, there are bumps and even visible hairs in the polish, and some of my toenails aren’t fully covered. For a gel service, I expected much better quality and attention to detail. I do have to say the technicians were nice and the place was clean but with how my nails turned out, it is definitely not worth the price I paid.

Beautiful salon and amazing ambience! Went for grand opening and was in awe. Did an amazing job on my nails and feet with gel color. Customer service was on point too, which is difficult to find these days. Pleasantly surprised by prices, as it looks very upscale. Looking forward to my next visit on self care day!

I was looking forward to trying this salon because it's 2 minutes down the road from me and I'm having scheduling conflicts at my usual place so I'm trying to find a new place. I get pedicures once a month and manicures twice a month so I'm familiar with salon services and spend a lot of my hard earned money each month to get these services. The salon was beautiful but my pedicure service was bad. -He didn't clean under the toe nails -Foot scrub was not great and I guess they don't use foot files, which I prefer -Hot towels not hot and quickly became cold -Massage was weak and definitely didn't last 14min! Barely got my legs and the same motion was used over and over on my feet. It was bad. -I was not offered a beverage -I was given the nail colors to choose from and they never took it back so I held onto it the whole service -He asked if I wanted a third coat of polish and when I looked, it clearly needed another coat! - He put the wax bags on but didn't spread the wax around so it stayed puddled at bottom. A waste and also not spread on my feet as it should have been. He also didn't leave it on long so what was on my feet wasn't fully dried so it didn't come off easily. He wiped a little off but I had to remove some myself and rub in lotion that was also left on my legs. I was still finding wax in between my toes later in the day. -I took a closer look at the paint job when I got home and it was bad. Polish not on all of the toenails, but plenty of polish on my skin on each big toe. How was that not seen? I would be willing to try again but with a different person. Extremely disappointing though.

My daughter got her nails done by Tommy her nail bed is small, her nails never last a full three weeks, until her next appointment. Her nails looked amazing. Thankful for the referral.
