Posting for my sister…: she doesn’t have Google account. I went to this braiding salon and showed the stylist a clear inspiration photo before we began. She assured me she could achieve the look. I even paid extra for smaller braids in the back, bringing my total to $220. However, during the appointment, I could feel that the parts were being made much larger than what I asked for. When I politely brought this up, the stylist insisted that it was going as planned. Unfortunately, once the style was completed, it looked nothing like the photo I had shown her. The braids were large, uneven, and sloppy—especially in the back where I specifically paid for smaller ones. It was clear to me the work was rushed and not professionally done. I expressed my disappointment immediately and requested a partial refund. The only thing they returned to me was $20. That’s unacceptable considering how far off the final result was from what I requested and paid for. This was not just poor service—it felt dishonest. If you’re considering this salon, please be careful. I have pictures to back up my claims, and I will be sharing them publicly. Consumers deserve better than this. I’ve taken the braid out but you can see the inspiration of Alecia Keys

First let me start by saying that the lady who braided my hair was really nice and kind…. Now I requested a certain style and I was sitting in the chair as I watched her braid my hair. I noticed that the braids weren’t thick like the picture I was showing her but I didn’t say anything. I’m not confrontational and I was like maybe it will turn out okay once she’s finished and it will look fine. I was already quoted $150 for the style so even if I didn’t like it, I was prepared to pay the money. Here’s where my issue comes in at. The style I sent the OWNER didn’t have braids in the back. The lady who was braiding my hair asked if I wanted to braid it all up and I said okay that’s fine. She didn’t say it would be anything extra. I’m already not satisfied with the thickness of the braids. So the OWNER comes out and tells the nice lady who’s braiding my hair that "The picture she sent over didn’t have braids in the back"…. I was like okay that’s fine you don’t have to braid the back. The OWNER then say "she has already braided the back now. There was ONLY one braid in the back.. she told me it would be $12 per braid in the back.. WOW!! Now the owner knows what the style is suppose to look like but she doesn’t say anything about the small braids but was only concerned with getting extra money for the 3 SMALL braids in the back… A style that was only suppose to cost $150 turned into $210. This was a lesson learned! The ladies who work in the shop are ALL nice but the OWNER however seems to be ONLY about money and she doesn’t seem friendly at all.. Also let me clarify that the total included 2 bundles of synthetic hair for $40… This is my experience and my personal opinion. Please see the pictures below so anyone who’s reading this review can have a clear picture of what to expect.

This is my alt email so you wont find any appointments under this name but the reason I am giving 3 stars is that I been coming here for years and they usually do a great job. Within the last year I guess they keep changing braiders but the quality seemed to have decreased. Doesnt mean they cannot find other good braiders I am just pointing out that the last few who braided my hair didnt do a good job. I asked for a particular style and ended up with a box braids boho style so it had knots at the root. Even with knots at the root, the braids came loose, pieces of curly hair kept falling on the ground and some braids slipped out all within 2 weeks. Thats unusual for braids. The owner is nice but I had to write this review so she could see it and hopefully do quality checks for her braiders.

I tried this salon and was really disappointed. They stay overbooked and don’t seem to respect appointment times at all. I had to sit and wait way longer than I should have, even though I booked in advance. On top of that, the customer service was not great nobody communicated what was going on or apologized for the wait. I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you value your time or basic professionalism.

My daughter had her hair braided yesterday. We walked in, confirmed the style, she chose her hair and they started on her. I was told 4 hours and she was done exactly 4 hours later. Her braids turned out really pretty. They were neat and what she wanted. She is happy, so I’m happy! 😊

EDIT: The response by the owner below tells you everything you need to know about her customer service or lack of it - defensive, argumentative, and lacking professionalism and accountability. I’ll glady pass and take my business elsewhere with those who understand problem solving when they make a mistake and training their staff (braiders). Not arguing when clearly wrong, and the work is poor. You can’t even see the parting of my braids in less than 24 hours. Very shabby job, not satisfied in any way. Poor service all around. ORIGINAL POST: I’ve gotten my hair done here quite a number of times. Yesterday, unfortunately will be the last time I do my hair here. I booked the gypsy tree braids, which I have booked previously last November. Last November I paid about $600 (including tip) for this style with no complaints because I loved the look. Yesterday I showed a picture of the same exact gypsy braids I wanted before anyone started braiding for clarity (I always do this). The braiders reassured me that they would be able to achieve the same look. As they were braiding I noticed that the gypsy braids was not looking like the same length. I showed the picture AGAIN and they reassured me that it would end up looking like the picture. Mind you, when you book online, you cannot book to add extra length to the gypsy braids which is why I showed the picture of the hair and length in person. I already did this style before, so I did not think it would become such an issue. Long story short, the hair ended up being shorter, very scanty and thin, scattered and uneven. I was devastated. I paid $490 since it was shorter, but was full of regrets for trusting the braiders, I will gladly pay the $600 for what I actually wanted and showed them from start. What made this worse, is that when I brought this up to the owner, she insisted that it was not the style I booked therefore how could they know I wanted it to be longer. I kept having to explain multiple times that I showed them the picture of exactly what I wanted, I even showed them a picture of myself with the same style. Communication is everything! It is up to the braiders to tell me that what I’m showing them is different and extra cost for length. I would have gladly paid like I did before. Before leaving the salon, the owner offered no corrective services. After going back and forth with the owner over the phone today, she agreed for me to come in however she could not take accountability for the fact that her braiders dropped the ball and did not do the style that I showed them. Now I am inconvenienced to have to drive 30 minutes back to the salon and stay for additional hours. I have a baby and cannot be wasting time going to salon. She could not guarantee how long it would take to correct the hair. I asked her for compensation or to correct the mistake for free. She started being hostile and getting defensive and still wanted to charge me despite it being her FAULT. So I’m going to waste more of my time, waste my gas, and money for your mistake? Makes no sense. She kept saying that "why should she be correcting my hair for free" and that I am inconveniencing her, she is busy. I already paid $500, and drove and hour yesterday to get this style done wrong by your braiders. There’s nothing free about that. Overall, I do not like supporting businesses that have very poor customer service, and they do not value their customers time, concerns or business. I really have always been supportive of this salon always tipping extra, supporting my fellow African businesses. However, I can’t do business with people that don’t take accountability, and will argue with you, inconvenience you and provide no compensation when they mess up. It shows lacks integrity. My hair was done poorly, pictures don’t lie. As a business you should make it right not argue.
