A must have every single time I am in NYC for either work or just visiting family. Anyone that comes to visit me know they can get rides from me if they bring me one of their Ube Cheesecake 🤭 Closest Japanese Cheesecake you will find in the USA in comparison to the ones in Japan! Their Cream Puffs are amazing as well. Their dessert aren’t overly too sweet like most places. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Worth the Awkward Wait: The Fluffiest Cheesecake You'll Ever Eat Giving Keki Modern Cake 4 stars is a testament to the sheer, undeniable quality of their famous fluffy cheesecake. This is a classic example of a product being so phenomenal it forces you to overlook significant flaws in the customer experience—but those flaws are certainly present. Let's start with the star: the cheesecake. It is an absolute revelation. The texture is unlike anything else—incredibly light, airy, and bouncy, almost like a soufflé. It’s often served warm, boasting a perfect balance of creamy cheese flavor without being overly sweet or heavy. It truly melts in your mouth and is easily a five-star dessert, justifying the high price tag on quality alone. This cake is genuinely a must-try for any dessert lover. However, the in-store experience is where Keki severely falls short. The space itself is small and poor-looking, lacking the appeal you'd expect from a shop selling a premium product. More critically, the service needs major improvements. Upon entering the tiny store, two counter employees proceeded to completely ignore us. There was no greeting, no eye contact, and the silence was so awkward that I had to ask if the store was even open. For such a pricy product, customers deserve a minimum level of basic hospitality. Ultimately, the quality of the legendary jiggly cheesecake carries the weight and earns Keki four stars. You should absolutely go for the cake, but be prepared for a quick, uninviting, and disappointingly cold interaction. Management needs to immediately address staff training and storefront presentation to match the excellence of what they serve. No room to dine in, no coffee, tee or anything other than few items!
Got the ube cream puff and cookie and cream puff. Staff is super friendly. The flavor is really good, overall not too sweet. Filling is very creamy but outside is still crispy. So much filling. $4 after tax
Great flavors! Took it to go and the wow tart is definitely my favorite and I'd come back for it. The cream puff is filled with ooey goodness. I personally do not like the texture or flavor of a bouncy cheesecake, but if you're doing to try it, this is the place. No slices offered, so get some friends or loved ones to share a cake with you...but no judgment if you eat it on your own!
The cream puffs were absolutely incredible. Do yourself a favor and try all of them bc there are worth it!! The cream was delicious and unlike many places, they were very generous with it (make sure to get some napkins). The staff was also nice. We didn’t try the cheesecake but will definitely come back to try it. I also want to try the Basque cheesecake. Edit: the original cheesecake is a must!! It’s not too sweet, just the perfect level of sweetness- you can finish your piece without feeling like you just had a sugar overload. Just the ideal dessert.
The place is really small. There was only cream puffs and the Japanese bouncy cake for sale. The cream puffs were really yummy. Comes in this cute box so the puffs don’t get squished. Must eat cold though. When the cream warms, it tastes weird. The bouncy cake is yummy too! The pistachio cream puff was not in season yet, looking forward to trying that.
Absolutely delicious. Must try!!! I am sorry I didn't buy multiple cakes. Definitely will be back!!
