This place is definitely worth the hype! Everything was really fresh and the donuts were soft. I highly recommend the strawberry cheesecake donut and the chocolate croissant, super tasty! I went at 11am and there was still plenty to pick from, but some things were sold out so I'd recommend going earlier if you want something in particular.

Y'all. In addition to being the best fluffiest gigantic donuts in town, TXDoT is doing everything they can to put these people out of business. Please go support this small business and don't be deterred by the blocked off drive, they are VERY much open and AMAZING.

In search of West Texas' best donut shop, look no further than Lubbock's beloved 'City Donuts.' A mere 5 minutes away from the TTU campus in central Lubbock, it is THE ideal breakfast spot for any pastry or breakfast snack item that could come to mind. I've been a loyal patron since my first year moving to Lubbock in 2019 when I was greeted with such sincere warmth and hospitality that reflected seamlessly into the service they provide and the products they proudly serve. This review features their famous "Sausage and Cheese Kolaches" and a "Classic Strawberry Sprinkled Donut," paired alongside a "Chocolate Powdered Croissant," and a "Strawberry Cream Cheese Donut." My personal favorites are their two variations of kolaches (that feature a jalapeño & cheese option and a regular sausage & cheese option), their "Blueberry Cake Donut" and "Apple Fritter." I find the quality amongst their regular and seasonal items that they offer to be superb and more delicious each opportunity I get to enjoy them again! The service is simply the best as you can be sure to always be welcomed in with a smile and a pleasant aptitude to deliver the highest quality service available with any qualm one may find themselves needing resolve. Today was no different than any other visit as I was serviced above satisfactory, and I was happily reminded how much my patronage matters on a business and personal level as a fellow member of the community. Can't recommend enough!

Total hidden gem. There were so many goodies I had trouble deciding and the staff is so incredibly kind and had a ton of patience for this picky customer. I got the chocolate croissant, lemon blueberry fritter, and the powdered donut with strawberry and cream cheese. Each were amazing in their own way. I will be back.

Today, I ventured into City Donuts for the first time, and let me tell you, I was not ready for what awaited me. I came for a simple breakfast, but I left questioning everything I thought I knew about kolaches and apple fritters. First, the spicy kolaches—soft, warm, and just the right amount of spice to wake me up without making me regret my life choices. Whoever is back there making these deserves a handshake, a raise, or at the very least, a "Kolache Artist of the Year" award. Then came the apple fritter. Or should I say, The Apple Titan. This thing is massive. I’m pretty sure it has its own gravitational pull. I picked it up, and for a brief moment, I thought I had accidentally grabbed a free weight instead of a pastry. But despite its size, it was perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and cinnamony on the inside, and had just the right balance of sweetness to make me consider taking up permanent residency inside City Donuts. If you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out. Come hungry, leave happy… and possibly bring a friend to help you carry that fritter. Highly recommend! Will 100% be back for another round (and maybe some arm day workouts with that apple fritter).

Absolutely worth the drive in road construction to one of the best small businesses in town. The warm friendly smile and amazing donuts and food will brighten your day. The huge lemon blueberry fritter and chocolate croissants are my favorite! The kolaches are warm and soft. The sweetest staff ever. I will absolutely be sharing their wonderful donuts with clients. I have been going to this donut shop for years and let me tell you, this year they have been pushing and mastering the perfect size, texture, and straight up delicious donut in Lubbock!!!! The bear claw is hands down the biggest, fluffiest, and TASTIEST in the entire Lubbock area!!
