Dee's One Smart Cookie Bakery

This bakery is fantastic, and has a great selection - cookies, cakes, donuts, cupcakes, dessert bars, bread, rolls, pastries, homemade soups, gf pasta, and so much more! It rivals any "regular" bakery- the items are high quality and delicious. There are several cases full of goods, and fridges/freezers with gf pizza, pasta, soups, ect. The poppy seed dinner rolls were the best ever- very fluffy, a rare find for gluten-free. I ordered a custom cake for a special birthday, with delicious peppermint frosting and fresh, decadent layers. I followed the helpful instructions taped to the box: handled the cake with care and let warm to room temp- it sliced easily and cleanly. Yes, it was a little too tall for the box so they used cling wrap. Not a problem, more cake=happy people Prices are very good for quality, gluten free food. No worries about cross contamination, and they are clear about which items contain eggs. Visit this bakery!

We have a ton of allergies in my family. We worked out a whole plan for a wonderful duck cake that seemed to fill all allergy needs. After all this work I learned my daughter-in-law- the Honoree- needed to also be low glycemic. WE had to throw all our plans away and start fresh. In the end we got adorable and very delicious cupcakes with duck adornment, that fit all the food parameters! We also got some very delish cherry bars. People loved the desserts. And I got some phenomenal gluten free whoopie pies all for me and my elderly mother. Thanks for the wonderful job, Dee's!!

Bought a 6 in carrot cake for a b day and was told to leave the cake out at room temp for 2-3 hours before cutting. Did exactly that and the cake was very crumbly and the filling was hard. It was very hard to get cut a decent slice to serve without it falling apart. After serving out half the cake I laid the cake down in the box that in came in because the cake was too tall to close. They gave the cake to me in a box with the lid half open and a sheet of saran wrap taped to it to cover the open half. Before storing I saran wrapped the entire box. Next day I cut a piece through the middle and it was still crumbly with hard filling. I sent an email to the owner and she voicemailed me assuming I dropped the cake. I called back to try to explain exactly how I handled the cake and she interrupted me half way and didn’t let me fully explain. She issued me a refund but later sent me an email assuming I made a "comedy"(as she stated) of storing and cutting errors. She was very rude and had zero accountability for the matter. She made a plethora of assumptions about what happened without caring to hear me out. I chose not to respond to the email since I got a refund but just wanted to put this out there in case anyone was thinking about ordering a cake for a special occasion.

Browsing the cases, there’s a lot of choices for vegans and its gf which is a plus. But the premade bakes items (cupcakes, muffins, etc) always taste so dry!!! They’re super cold when you get them so it leads me to think that most of these items are bakes agead and frozen, which is fine if you’re storing them correctly, but if they’re open in a case then they’re drying out. I freeze baked goods all the time and when I take them out of the freezer and let them thaw, they are just as soft and fresh. I had a cupcake, muffin, and Whoopie pie from here and ALL of these items were hard and stale!!! It is super disappointing. Bakeries should be baking fresh daily and not serving premade, frozen items that taste hard and stale. At least that’s what it tastes like. I have to throw all of my goodies out because they’re too far away to make another drive. This was part of a large superbowl party order too.

For people with food allergies this is a great place. There are a ton of breakfast treats, cookies, etc. The staff are very nice and very mindful of allergies (e.g., dairy, egg, etc.). All that said, as someone that doesn't have food allergies, this place is only so good relative to a typical bakery. I wasn't overly thrilled, but everything was decent. Either way you fall, it's worth a try to support a local business.

What a wonderful GF bakery! I decided to stop by on a trip through CT after seeing so many positive reviews online and it was as wonderful as promised. The staff was so friendly and cared about the food sensitivities of their customers (I have celiac). They had a great selection too! My favorites were the cinnamon roll (large, classic taste & texture, and so rare as a GF option), the brownie (more moist than most gf brownies and the chocolate wasn’t overpowering), and the chipwich (enormous, didn’t crumble everywhere, and the *chunks* of chocolate were so good!). I would definitely recommend it and stop here again when I’m in the area.

Hands on staff with a heart of gold! I came here from Warwick, Rhode Island on a little getaway and this was the spot I knew I needed to visit! I’ve been gluten and dairy free since I was 12 due receiving chemotherapy and a total thyroidectomy from being born with Graves Disease. Down in Rhode Island we only have about three bakeries that have really good items with my sensitivities taking into account however I’m allergic to most nuts due to the cross contamination of peanuts and I find it that I can’t visit them because of this (on top of them not being the best option for a quick treat vs. my many personal attempts at doing anything fully gluten free from scratch). So when I was looking for a quick getaway before returning back to med school for the summer I spotted Dee’s and the reviews, LET ME TELL YOU THEY DONT EVEN TAKE INTO ACOUNT HOW AMAZING THIS PLACE IS!!!! When you enter you’re hit with warm smiles and a welcome from everyone working even if they weren’t up front when you came in they still say hello!! They make you feel at home while you browse, help carry items to the register for you without you asking, alert you to anything that’s in the items without you asking, and do it with a smile and a lovely attitude!! This place is awesome all its missing is a tiny little space for seating. I was and still am truly amazed! Their blueberry vegan donut is TO DIE FOR!!! It had fresh blueberries in the middle with the most decedent glaze that’s not too sweet and overpowering, soft with a bite and just enough to fill you up with one!!!! Their lemon bars are delicious and remind me of the bottom and middle layers of lemon cake my mom used to make from scratch for me as a kid!!! This brought back memories and soothed my inner child to the core LOL!! The pumpkin coffee cake it mouth watering and has such a crisp outside that’s not too crispy and a soft center with a nice bite to it!! I also bought the manicotti for my sister-in-law who has been wanting to try this aswell and since she’s only a month out from having her baby she couldn’t come so I surprised her and grabbed her some carrot cake muffins, lemon raspberry donuts, and the manicotti!! She has yet to try it but based off of what I’ve personally tried I just know she’ll love it. This place is the BOMB! Don’t miss out! You deserve it!!!
