REI

It's a cool store if you're going to shop in store. When you go in, you'll enter a cool environment and you'll see all kinds of great stuff to take out and play in the outdoors with. I do not, however, recommend that you do any sort of online shopping with this company in any way, shape or form unless you live within 20 minutes of a store. I have found the overall experience with the website shopping to leave everything to be a desired. I have found the people on the phone to be less knowledgeable and frankly less customer service oriented than I've ever known them to be in previous years. I suppose everything goes corporate at some point and it was only a matter of time until it happened at REI. As far as I'm concerned I can shop on Amazon and buy stuff for less money and have an easier time taking care of any issues I have. Some of you might say that it's better to support REI than it is to support Amazon, but as far as I can tell, they're both just big business at this point so it really doesn't make any difference. Again, this is based on an online perspective and has nothing to do with the in-store experience.

Came here wanting to invest in a pair of hiking boots, but not really sure what I needed. I did my online research but nothing could compare to Doreen. She was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. She didn’t try to steer me towards the most expensive but rather what worked best with my body. Doreen has phenomenal customer service. If the store sees this, GIVE DOREEN A RAISE

This was my first time shopping in the store, was there to pickup some boots I ordered online. I took a look around and there's a great selection of outdoor gear, the service that I received was great and I even became an REI member.

The employees here are so wonderful. I stopped in on Saturday to return something I purchased at another store and everyone was so friendly and happy to be there. They renewed my appreciation for REI and shopping in-person.

Today was my first time at The Rei Co-op in Appleton, WI. I never went to the store before because I thought it would be too expensive. I am a very thrifty shopper. There are many clearance areas throughout the store. Plus, I found great sales. The staff members were so helpful and kind. The reason I finally went to Rei was because I could not find 3 finger mittens for my son. His hands get cold while skiing when wearing gloves. He doesn't like mittens. I looked online and in stores and could not find his size. Rei has everything outside. I ordered online and the pick up was fast and easy. It was so easy I had time to shop.

Great experience at the Appleton REI! Staff was super friendly and helpful! This could be a dangerous membership.

My mom and I came here specifically to find some new backpacking gear for our trip to Isle Royal this year. We received AMAZING help from Anna who got us with some backpacks, tent, and sleeping pad - and Heather who helped us find some hiking boots. They were great! They also helped make sure we were getting the best deal on all of our items.
