Honestly if you want a real professional dermatologist that won't make you linger in the waiting room for an hour look no further. Excellent Doctor I highly recommend this practice. I'm not a paid spokesman just a really happy patient. He's the best.

I am so disappointed to have to write this review. It was not anticipated. I recently changed dermatology offices after going there for several years because the staff had become rude and incompetent. After meeting Dr. Barilla for the first time, I felt like I had found a wonderful replacement. So when it was time for my husband to visit the dermatologist I recommended that he see Dr. Barilla as well. We have different insurance providers so he called his company to verify that this office was in network. The insurance company assured him they were, so he called the office to make an appointment. Without verifying his policy number, the appointment scheduling person insisted that his plan was not in network, so I called the office directly. Again, without verifying his policy number, the woman stated that he was not covered. He called the insurance company and they sent him an email verifying that he was, indeed, covered. So he called the same woman back and very nicely explained the situation, asking her to please call the insurance company to verify the policy number. She very reluctantly said she would, but then did not call us back to report her findings. When I called later to ask her about it, she refused to take my call. Instead, she passed the message to me through another staff member that my husband was not covered. We were both treated so rudely. I am sure Dr. Barilla would be very unhappy to here how we were treated. Even though my insurance is covered at this office, after being treated this rudely, I will not be going back there.

Definitely don't recommend this doctor. My son had a horrible skin infection on the side of his torso. And also swelling and little scars around his eye. I found this doctor on my insurance website. He was the only doctor with an early appointment. I went and he had an arrogant aire about him. He didnt listen much to what i had to say and immediately diagnosed eczema around his eye and torso. I said that I thought the torso infection was a type of ringworm, he said no. I told him the eye infection is reocurring since he was 3. He said confidently that it's not infection but an allergy. I wrote Clobetasol Propionate for the torso and tacrolimus for his eye. The eye cream was huge and l was very suspicious because it's an ointment that would be near the eye. I applied it anyway. I kid you not, the next day my son woke up but could not open his eyes. They were infected, draining and swollen shut. Took him to the urgent care because he couldn't see well. They gave me a stat referral to an ophthalmologist Was able to see one same day. They did extensive testing on his eye and confirmed it was infected. They wrote scrips for eye drop and eye ointment which worked almost immediately. Point I'm making here is, if you don't know, don't pretend. Refer him to an eye specialist. His arrogance almost cost my son his vision. You are a dermatologist, not God. Next time, listen to your patients and have some empathy. I gave 2 stars and not 1 because the ointment for torso did work. However, would not recommend this doctor. They're are much better dermatologists out there just take the time to look. Also some of his Google reviews look fake.

Dr. Barilla had taken care of a family member of mine, and I was so happy with his care that I became a patient myself. It is so wonderful for me to find an academic dermatologist because working in medicine myself, I know that that is sometimes not easy to find. He is an excellent physician who is also very warm, and his entire staff mirrors that same energy! My family feels very lucky to be under his care.

It has taken a while to find a good dermatologist. However, I do not need to keep looking. Dr. Barilla is, I believe, and excellent doctor: knowledgeable and with the patience to thoroughly explain things. As an added bonus, the office staff is friendly and helpful. A win-win situation.
