Genuinely I love Coucou! I think your experience really depends on your instructor though. Rodolph tested us for listening speaking and understanding in every class. Everyone was made to feel comfortable to participate and try their best. We all had fun and that made it easy to learn! If you don’t have a teacher that helps reinforce the lessons or takes time to answer all your questions (or if you yourself are not asking questions) then you will not have the best experience, this is how all schools are.

I recently completed an online Apprenti course (from 8/5/2025 to 9/4/2025) at Coucou NYC. My instructor was Anka, and I found her to be supportive, patient, enthusiastic, skilled, attentive, and fun to learn from! As I struggled at times to synthesize the material, she was understanding and provided very helpful input. Anka is an excellent instructor and it was truly a pleasure to learn from her. I would recommend her to anyone learning fundamentals to advanced level French. I also found Coucou as a company to be high quality. Their online format was simple and user friendly and definitely ideal for the busy professional.

I took Coucou’s online placement test and was placed into an intermediate-level class. Unfortunately, the placement was not accurate. There was no real evaluation, just an online quiz, and when I arrived in the class, I quickly realized after a few sessions that it didn’t match my needs at all. The class was pure conversation with no grammar explanations, no structure, and no rules, which made me feel completely lost. I actually needed more grammar-focused support, not just conversation. When I tried to switch levels, I wasn’t offered a proper solution. Instead, I was only given about 70% credit for my remaining classes, with a two-month expiration. I couldn’t use it because I was traveling, and their response time was slow, so the credit essentially became useless. Overall, I was disappointed with how the placement was handled and how inflexible the school was in helping me find the right level. I expected a more supportive and structured experience.

I’ve learned a few languages over the years but this has been my the all time best experience. The teachers, the classmates and the learning materials are top notch. Walking into the school is so uplifting. Staff here are all very supportive and want to help you to succeed. Highly recommend.

Having been a student for several levels, I’ve made so much improvement over my time here, and the social learning style really is unique and perfectly fits what my style of learning. Shout out to Melissa for really selling the experience at my first Coucou social event and encouraged the French learning journey.

I was very weary of taking online classes from Coucou at first, but I have been pleasantly surprised! I took classes through L'Alliance Française last year, but they were only discussion-based and didn't include any instruction. Coucou has a good mixture of instruction and speaking practice. Florian is a really great instructor and makes the atmosphere very comfortable for speaking French. I don't feel pressured to only speak in French, and I don't feel stupid if I make a grammatical mistake. I will be signing up for level 5 once I've finished my current class.

Salut! I just finished Level 1 with Zohra (a 10-week class), bringing my total to 15 weeks of formal instruction. My French-speaking friends have been amazed at how much I’ve learned in such a short time! The class structure is excellent—clear rules and grammatical formulas make it easy to apply what I’ve learned and take risks with new sentences. I feel more comfortable understanding and speaking, and the learning environment is incredibly supportive. As a former teacher with a bachelor’s degree in education, I truly appreciate the thoughtful structure and high-quality resources. This school is absolutely wonderful. ——- I just finished Level 0, which ran for 5 weeks. I feel I learned so much in this class! While I’m sure all instructors are excellent, I had the pleasure of learning from Quentin, who made the intro to French experience fun and comfortable. Merci!
