Sogongdong Tofu & BBQ Plano,TX

We love 소공동 Sogongdong Tofu & BBQ at HMart in Plano! The food is always very fresh and delicious. My Korean friend says the mackerel is the best she’s had outside of Korea. Everything has been so so wonderful, it’s tough to decide what to order. The chicken, beef or pork bulgogi, dulsot bibimbap with its perfect scorched and chewy rice, mackerel, seafood pancake, japchae, tofu stew with whatever meat you like — and so much more. All is prepared with great care and fresh ingredients. I can’t say enough good things about Sogongdong 소공동 🇰🇷.

The food was delicious, and we have visited this place several times. We ordered the seafood and beef tofu soup three times in the past. This time, we ordered one seafood & beef soup and one seafood soup. Since the seafood soup is the same price, it should include more seafood — but it still came with only two small shrimp and a lot of noodles. It felt like they reduced the seafood and took advantage of the price difference. Even the beef tofu soup seems to have less and less meat each time.

I ordered only one japchae through Uber Eats, and I received so much more! It was tasty and came with a generous amount of panchan, along with rice and soup. Five stars for the quality and the service.

Absolutely the worst beef bulgogi that I've ever had. All for a ridiculous price. We paid $25.99 for a bugogi and kimchi tofu soup combo. The meal took forever to be prepared and what we received was an absolute joke! The skillet that the bulgogi came out on was maybe at most 5 inches big. It looked infant sized, honestly. The bulgogi meat was such a rip off. Maybe 2 pieces that was chopped into tiny, tiny pieces that was burnt to a crisp on the bottom of the skillet. The flavor was non existent. Almost more like a stir fry with sizzle steak. The soup was ok, but not much flavor and all tofu. Also, the portion size was insanely small for the price of the combo. Absolute trash. Save your money and try another eatery within the food court. I hope this place is replaced by something better soon.

Ok, I ordered chicken bulgogi and beef bulgogi and received unseasoned, almost like vegetable soup broth with both items. This is def. not 5star. I'm guessing a non-Korean cooked this dish?? I took some out to re-season it for my family. I'll make sure to order from So"kong"dong and not Sogongdong.

The tofu soup with beef was so flavorless, and there was hardly any meat. I got the combo with the mackerel, and the mackerel was fine, but it seemed like they didn't know how to properly cut the fish, so it was the entire thing, including all the tiny belly bones. The register overcharged us by a lot. Thankfully, the lady at the restaurant counter had taken our order, so she pointed it out so we could get a refund. We also got the seafood tofu soup, flavorless. Then the bimbimbop had very little rice and meat. I told the lady I have a gluten allergy, and she put something with soy sauce on my plate, so the sign to let people know about your food allergies is completely pointless. Overall. Bland food that was WAY overpriced.

I ordered the japchae and the boiled dumplings. The japchae was nasty and tasted sour, and there was barely any meat. The dumplings were okay. Side dishes looked like they had been sitting out for a while. Service was horrible, they literally were annoyed when I asked for a box and a bag. And the price was way too expensive for the poor quality food and service.
