As a guy, Hawaii Dermatology & Surgery made me feel completely welcomed from the moment I arrived. The receptionist was an absolute pro — warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming, never once making me feel like I didn’t belong in the space. Esthetician Thomas took the time to explain my skin concerns in a way that was clear and easy to understand, without any pressure or judgment. He walked me through each step of the treatment and tailored everything specifically to my needs as a man, which made the entire experience comfortable and informative. The clinic itself is relaxing, professional, and friendly. What I appreciated most is that they make skincare approachable and something everyone deserves, not just one type of person. I left looking and feeling better — both inside and out. Mahalo to the entire professional team at Hawaii Dermatology & Surgery. I highly recommend them to anyone thinking about stepping up their skincare game — trust me, it’s worth it.
I had a seamless experience at Hawaii Dermatology & Surgery. Dr. DeSilva is both knowledgeable and personable; she truly cares about her patients' well-being. What stood out most during my first visit was the practice’s use of technology. The online portal made it easy to complete my paperwork ahead of time, and I love that my visit notes and educational materials were posted for me to review afterward. My research definitely paid off—I’m so glad I chose this practice.
Dr. Wong and her staff did a phenomenal job caring for my baby. He had a growth on his eyebrow which they were able to remove same day! They were all so kind and compassionate! I couldn’t be happier with the results! I will recommend them to everyone I know!
Doctor Emily Wong is exceptionally qualified. She did my MOHS surgery and did a fantastic job—I would trust her with any surgery! I’m appreciative of her expertise and care!
My daughter is scared of this building. It everyone there treats her with positive ways and try to make her more comfortable from when we walk in till we leave the office they always make us feel welcome and comfortable
I had really high hopes for this place with such a good review rating. At first I was going to give 3 stars because of receptionist. My initial interaction with Dr. Wong was actually quite pleasant, even though her skin scrapping skills were very mediocre. But the reason for my one star all came at the end of my appointment. Trying to check out I told the receptionist that doctor requested a one week recheck and tried to schedule my appointment and she told me no that’s not possible. We only do two week rechecks. And said it with so much attitude. Then I told her well then you need to go doublecheck with the doctor and see when I need to schedule my appointment. So she went about to talk to a different person not even my doctor about scheduling my recheck appointment. She came back and said yes, you were right, it is one week. I said I know that’s what I told you. And she went on to say well I do the billing and coding here and the insurance doesn’t pay for appointments that soon. Then trying to check out she told me that I owed a co-pay. I told her no I don’t my insurance covers everything (just for context it’s a stevedore insurance), you need to check it again and without even checking it, she said because we’re a specialty service. I told her you need to check it again. She continues to argue with me with even more attitude saying that no your co-pay is $12. At this point my child is screaming on the floor because I had to schedule the first available which was during her nap time and she had no sympathy for that. She could have simply said I will double check and I will bill you if anything. That simple. Right after my appointment I called HMSA and confirmed with me that everything is covered. When I got home my husband called to correct her and get a refund. She argued with him also and he wasn’t as nice as I was. So that’s three interactions with the same person that’s already 3 stars down. Fourth incident, my appointment was at 2 o’clock the doctor said OK, I will call in the prescription for you. Get to Long’s at 4:15 to pick up my prescription. They don’t have it. Which brings me to the fourth incident, I called the office and put on hold for seven minutes, and then Jules comes on the phone. I tell her the situation and she basically brushes me off telling me that I’m incorrect at this point, I tell her respectfully, look I’m already not happy with you guys so please have the doctor call my prescription in now because I’m at the pharmacist already. Then she goes about saying OK I’ll make sure of that and hangs up. I called back and she answers and I tell her no you will go tell her now and I will stay on the phone with you until then and when The prescription is called in, you come back on the line and tell me. Which brings me to the fifth incident, Dr. Wong comes on the phone. At first, she’s pleasant trying to figure out what’s going on. And I told her my appointment was at two, It’s two hours later, why is my prescription not called in? And she tries to backpedal and say oh I needed to change the sizing to make sure you had enough. Well, that doesn’t mean that you had to cancel the other one, which I’m pretty sure she didn’t even call in. if you needed to change it call me and tell me, that simple. Then she goes about to say that it’s my fault that her receptionist are being disrespectful and talking to me rudely. And has the audacity to tell me well you can always go somewhere else, like I was the one causing trouble. I have been in customer service for 10+ years. I know what receptionist go through. I don’t talk to them rudely unless one, they talk to me rudely, even with that I give them 2-3 chances to fix their attitude. Or two they’re just really that stupid and I have to break it down into simple terms. Which here I had to do both. If you’re still with me all this way, thanks. Take home message is don’t even waste your time. Find someone else.
Staff was very friendly and Dr Wong and staff were super pleasant
