Taekwondo helps students build confidence, discover inspiration, and find belonging in a community of disciplined martial artists. You and your children learn more than kick and punch techniques. Students receive personalized guidance and coaching from certified black belts including the humbly strong and wise Master Hwang. This taekwondo school and the Instructor (Master Hwang) is like no other. He is an incredible teacher. He teaches respect and patience. He pushes students to the best of their abilities. He says "No pain, No gain" and teaches wonderful lessons. Not just physically but mentally as well.This taekwondo school is the perfect place for Taekwondo. I’ve been going here for 3 years and i am a first degree black belt. I’m so glad to stick with Master Hwang and i will continue too. He takes ages 4 and up and is wonderful with children and adults. I respect him and Taekwondo a lot. He is a great role model for the younger kids and is just overall amazing and goes beyond just martial arts.

If you're thinking about investing in your child there is no better choice than letting Master Hwang mentor them. The experience goes well beyond simply martial arts education. Master Hwang is invested in your child as a person. He emphasizes personal responsibility and accountability focusing on respect for your family, your peers, and dedication at school. In your head you think you know what you want from someone who will mentor, coach, lead your child but Master Hwang actually exceeds those expectations. My oldest son has spent 3 years with him and I cannot fully express how grateful we are to him for helping foster a maturity, dedication, and sense of purpose that I don't believe would exist today without this experience.

My family has been with KAT for over 5 years now, (Two 1st Degree Black Belts, and one more working toward Black Belt). It is great exercise, and the benefits of martial arts training are amazing for both kids and adults. All of the instructors are great. I highly recommend it.

I don't know that there are words that describe the impact that Master Hwang has had on my family. He is an incredible teacher, mentor, role model and friend to my children. They look forward to taekwondo days and have learned so much about self control, respect, perseverance and what they can accomplish if they put in the work. He keeps them accountable and keeps the class fun but challenging. My daughter LOVES it! The children are all very nice as are all of the other parents, grandparents, and other supporters. Can't say enough great things about our taekwondo family!

Super experience for any youth or adult. Master Hwang has patience and takes the time for every learning style, especially for children. Instills discipline and respect for anyone. I highly recommend KAT Taekwondo Shawnee.

We originally started at the Lenexa location and I cannot imagine going anywhere other than KAT. My daughter started at 5 and she is now 13 and a second degree black belt. Let me tell you, we interviewed 10 facilities before deciding on KAT! Master Hwang is incredible, passionate, loving, and highly respectable. He supports his students both in training, intellectually, and also emotionally. There have have been times when my daughter has been upset and wanted nothing more than to go sit and talk with Master Hwang. The price is right in the middle of the road, I have seen cheaper and I have seen more expensive. But, the quality? You cannot find better. KAT helped build my child from a small, shy, and fearful little girl to a strong, healthy, confident, and assertive teen. I have no doubt a large part of change was her training with KAT taekwondo!
