I take beginner Korean classes here every week, and the 1.5-hour bus ride is absolutely worth it. Our teacher, Yun 선생님, makes learning the alphabet feel easy and enjoyable. It is a wonderful place if you want to truly experience Korean culture, not just study the language. During our Lunar New Year session, we wore hanbok, ate traditional rice cakes, and made handmade 복주머니, which felt very meaningful. There are also cultural events held regularly, and aside from the 100 dollars I paid for 12 sessions, all activities and events were free. I am really grateful to be part of this community.

Don't do it. I did the self course online. Started mid December. Course is for a year. They closed my course Dec 31 2025. Impossible to go back in and see where you left off. You have to restart the whole 2026 course (48% progress gone). I emailed to asked if it could be transferred, they said no. The 2025 & 2026 courses are THE SAME!!!! I signed up for the SNU 3 weeks online course instead of restarting 2026 here.

The staff is very friendly and takes the time to explain anything you need to know. Logistics: There is plenty of parking around during class time. The structure next to the building is $4 after 6:04 PM. Although many of the classes are at night they are in a secured building on a secured floor. So there is no need to worry about safety ever. Classes: The Korean language classes are exactly as described on the website: intensive. I love the classes, but you MUST be able to dedicate at least an hour or two per week for studying in addition to attending class. Another option is the Conversation class which is new (I think) and could help you if you have a difficult time studying at home. The classes are relatively inexpensive (depending on budget). You can study at KSI during the day and staff/instructors are available to help in any capacity. Advice — if you take the classes download the Korean keyboard on your phone for practice. —Download the apps listed on the website to study, but don’t forget earbuds because you cannot hear without them. —Buy a Korean English dictionary —Make a study group and text in Korean or meetup in K-town —Be patient with yourself. It’s very different than English. —Ooh and make sure you study 7th grade English because you’ll need it for sentence structure (subject vs object), remembering verbs and adjectives. Just the things you don’t think about every day because it’s ingrained in you already.
