The Spanish Studio Language Center

I’ve been taking classes with Alex for the last year and it’s been a lot of fun! Alex is very personable and funny which helps the classes feel engaging and enjoyable, and you can tell he has a lot of experience teaching. The lessons also have a good variety of lectures, videos, partner activities which helps each class feel fresh. I think he does a good job of balancing more complex grammatical lessons with more practical everyday Spanish for early and intermediate speakers. I would recommend these classes for anybody who is feeling stuck with Duolingo and wanting to more seriously learn Spanish. The in person class environment also helped me to get over the anxiety of being a total beginner. Frankly, I wish I signed up sooner and I’m now eager to practice out in the real world. For what it’s worth, my girlfriend’s family from Colombia and Honduras have said they’re impressed with my progress, so thanks for that Alex, Chris and Frankie!

The studio is absolutely beautiful the Spanish decor is well done.let me clear this critique is to help this business be aware of something they may not be aware of this is constructive criticism…the reason I gave a two star rating is because this is not a beginners Spanish class like it was explained…this class is absolutely for people that have taken Spanish classes or a Spanish course before. It is definitely a refresher course not a beginner course. The instructor is kind, super friendly and welcoming but not hands on at all. I think the class could be more productive if they down sized the table in the classroom then the space would allow the instructor to walk around and be more hands with the student . When we realized the course was to advance we reach out to the studio but we never received a response back. Which I felt was unprofessional, but what can you do. Once again this is our story and I don’t want this review to discourage anyone from going to the Spanish studio. I just want people to be aware the classes are more advanced then what they were portrayed. I want to make sure I respond to your response. So let’s be clear and completely honest we did not miss several classes. We missed one class and after our fourth class, we did not return back because we realize it was too advanced and also when Michael emailed you about discussing a refund partial or full no you did not respond back to him! And I do not agree that missing one 2 hour class has that much effect on your learning when the studio emailed all of the homework that was required to be done and also what was studied and discussed in the class that we missed. I do feel that’s why it is very important to read things clearly and really understand before we react because obviously you did not understand a lot of things that I stated in my review because your response is not accurate and it is defensive and I’m sorry to say extremely unprofessional… but once again this review was not to cause any harm. It was to express that I feel your course is not a starter course. But it is absolutely amazing how people can dissect things and only receive the negative but none of the positive best wishes!

Alex is the best Spanish teacher in Chicago. It's important to me that he speaks English so well because I always have a lot of questions. I have had Spanish teachers in the past who did not speak English as well as Alex, and they were definitely not able to explain and teach all the details of the Spanish language as well as Alex does. He is also very warm, patient and funny, and the studio has a cool vibe. Chris, who runs the studio is also very friendly, very efficient and always answers emails and phone messages promptly. I have taken group and private lessons from Alex (and many studios before him), and I definitely recommend The Spanish Studio Language center to learn Spanish.

Spanish studio has been such a great experience. Learning Spanish is fun and Alex is an incredible teacher. The class is a great mix of self guided learning and Spanish practice and in class learning. You will get out of the class what you put into it. I had an amazing experience and would recommend Spanish Studio to anyone!

I wanted to get back into learning Spanish and didn’t know where to start. Alex is a great teacher and I enjoy every Sunday with him. The only thing I would suggest is if people had to test into the next level to make sure everyone is at the same skill set. I think it’s unfair to those who are ready to advance to have to be held back because others need more time to review basic grammar. Overall, I enjoy the class and I’m excited to continue.

I’ve been trying to learn Spanish for a long time and since I started working with Alex at The Spanish Studio my Spanish has improved significantly. Alex is patient with me on the days I struggle and provides lots of opportunities to practice. I also found the lessons to be well planned overall.

Alex is a great instructor and I was able to learn really useful skills in level 1. I signed up for level 2 and am looking forward to it! I highly recommend this program for learning Spanish.
