Michael Albor Salon - Back Bay Boston

One of the best salon experiences I’ve ever had. The Loft has a refined, classy atmosphere — clean, elegant, and instantly welcoming. From the moment I walked in, I felt genuinely appreciated and cared for. Vicky is one of the best hairstylists I’ve ever met. I left feeling like a million dollars. This is the kind of place you don’t just visit once; you return to it. I’ll always recommend The Loft and remain a loyal customer.

I made an appointment for full brunette balayage w/ a haircut, Olaplex, toner, gray coverage, and blow dry. The haircut itself, while not exactly what I requested, is quite nice. Everything else left me a bit frustrated. I did not receive an Olaplex conditioning treatment at all. My highlights are brassy (unlike my inspiration photos) and "partial" rather than "full" (i.e., sizable sections are missing, and they don’t go all the way up to the root), so I’ll be going elsewhere to have it fixed. My little bit of gray is well covered, but I left with dye all over my forehead (not even just along the hairline) because it was applied haphazardly and they didn’t have any remover. But perhaps my biggest complaint is that their insufficient draping didn’t prevent stripper and dye/toner from ruining my clothing; my $300 shirt has a bleach stain and trail of dark dye/toner stains down the back that two different dry cleaners have been unable to remove. Of course, no one bothered to let me know as I left the salon, so I proceeded to walk around Back Bay with a dirty shirt until the nice cashier at Flour gave me a heads up. In all my years of getting my hair colored, that was a first. I did call the salon but was only offered an "oops, sorry, try some hairspray, good luck". I realize some of these complaints may seem nit-picky but feel getting your hair done/colored at a reputable salon in downtown Boston (and shelling out hundreds of dollars for it) is a luxury, so this experience failed to meet my expectations. Shortcuts and carelessness simply leave a bad taste in the mouth!

I’ve been to this salon three times now, and every visit has been amazing. Vickie is incredibly professional and genuinely skilled. She does my full highlights using high-quality products, and my hair always turns out beautifully without any damage. I’m extremely satisfied with her work and highly recommend her!

I haven’t dyed my hair in over a year because I was looking for a good place to go to while I study in Boston. Manuela did a wonderful job to dye my over grown hair into this red brown color, plus straightening it and giving me a well needed trim. Very happy with the results and will be back again!

Cannot recommend Vickie enough - I came in with an accidental rainbow head of hair following a series of unfortunate at-home attempts to dye my hair black (see before and after pictures). She worked her magic and absolutely saved the day; I left with a beautiful reddish brown color and a fresh trim. I will be coming back to her again and again 🙂

Recently had such a great experience with stylist Vickie! I booked through Groupon and was nervous I’d be treated differently but Vickie was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and kind. My hair came out beautiful and I will be returning !

Manuela delivers with the perfect blonde every time and the absolute best blowouts. Not to mention the friendliest salon staff - Love this place!!
