First off: the name? Exemplary, top tier, Grade A bookstore name. Books have definitely helped calm me down when I'm stressed or shaken from a bad dream, so the name really makes this place stand out and really makes for a memorable experience. The set up reminded me of Café con Libros in Pomona, CA - while this bookstore is larger, it feels intimate with the the tall bookcases and tight aisles. The front is open and invites, maybe even beckons the stray visitor to take a peek at the recommended titles and then move on to the other sections. And huge kudos for recommending Silvia Moreno-Garcia, aka one of my favorite authors. There was a heavy focus on authors of color in their SFF section which I was thoroughly impressed by. Their children's/YA section was also focused on stories featuring protagonists of color and LGBTQIA narratives. I didn't explore the gallery in the back but I would definitely like to stop by when they're hosting an event. This place has been around for less than a year, so please take a look around if you're in the Mission and check out their selection.

Staff is incredibly arrogant. For a bookstore that pretends to be progressive, it does not possess much community spirit. Alley Cat was better run and had a nice vibe.

Best community bookstore/cultural space in the whole damn town!

One of my favorite bookstores in the city. They have a lot of books I couldn’t find elsewhere. There’s a great collection of books in Spanish and lots of childrens books too. I always look at the kids books here because they feature stories about all kinds of families. I wish I lived closer so I could go to their events!
