Customer Reviews
Lazy Sister has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 based on over 247 reviews on Google
We dined at Lazy Sister this evening with another couple, holding a 5:00 PM reservation. Based on the restaurant’s reputation and online presence, we were very much looking forward to the experience. We were seated promptly upon arrival and ordered specialty cocktails while awaiting the rest of our party. The atmosphere was warm and lively, and the staff were welcoming and professional throughout the evening. Once our friends arrived, service flowed smoothly our drinks, appetizers, and entrées were all excellent, and the waitstaff remained attentive without being intrusive. The quality of the food and the pacing of the meal allowed us to genuinely enjoy both the cuisine and conversation. During the meal, the manager stopped by to introduce himself and check in, followed shortly by a visit from the hostess, both of which felt like thoughtful, hospitality-driven touches that enhanced the experience, or so we thought. When dessert was offered, we politely declined and continued our conversation. We settled our bill and were finishing our drinks when, several minutes later, we were informed by the manager, that the restaurant was very busy and that our table was needed for incoming guests. This was unexpected, particularly given that our total time in the restaurant was approximately one hour and forty-five minutes-and what we felt was an entirely reasonable duration for a party of four enjoying cocktails, appetizers, and entrées. While I understand the operational demands of a busy restaurant, I did not feel that we should have been asked to leave at all. The request itself rather than its delivery was what detracted from an otherwise excellent evening. Being asked to vacate the table while surrounded by seated guests felt uncomfortable and inconsistent with the level of hospitality we had experienced throughout the meal. I share this not to discredit the restaurant, as the food, service, and atmosphere were truly outstanding, but because the ending stood in contrast to the caliber of the experience. We would happily return for the food and service, and hope future guests are able to enjoy their evening without feeling rushed or prematurely concluded.
Food is so amazing had to make a view on it! My significant other and I came by wanting to try something new. We really enjoyed the soup and calamari, don’t get me started on the entrees! The spice is just perfect, my dry pepper style plate was the perfect bite size! We’ll be coming back soon!
Overall, it was a good experience at lazy sister, we were seated within about 10 minutes and had a nice two top seat. Ordered drinks right away and they were really good both the old-fashioned and the piña colada type drink that was in a adorable kitten mug. The appetizers were fantastic. We got the duck steam buns and the soup, dumplings, and pork. Those were both fantastic. My husband got the dry fry Szechuan vegetables and I got the chicken and broccoli. To be honest, he loved his mine was just OK. The chicken and broccoli was what you would expect from any other Chinese restaurant. It didn’t do anything special, but it was good. So overall, I thought it was a good experience. I wish they could’ve done something. Maybe a little bit more exciting with the chicken and broccoli but overall, I had a good experience. We liked it.
I’ve been to Lazy Sister in Norwalk twice now, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite spots. The first time, I didn’t have a reservation but they were kind enough to seat us at the bar, which was actually super comfortable. If you’re planning to go with a group, I definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. A nice touch is that the restaurant will call you a few hours before your reservation to confirm. Just a heads-up, if you don’t confirm, you risk losing your table, and they won’t seat you until your entire party has arrived. Parking can be a bit tricky, but there are several nearby garages, so plan ahead. The service is always amazing, the servers are genuinely sweet and super attentive. The food is delicious! I absolutely love the crispy beef and the fried rice, and the drinks are also fantastic. It does get a little dark inside and can get noisy since the place is usually packed (which to me is a great sign!). I wouldn’t complain about the wait at all because the staff is on top of everything and very attentive. I definitely will be returning and plan to do takeout too. I love this place — 10/10 recommend!
A pseudo Chinese restaurant offering Chinese style food. Can get very loud at times making it difficult to have a conversation. The soup dumplings were very bland. The Calamari was nicely prepared. The cold noodles were sparce but tasty. The mopo tofu was a watery dish with raw tofu and mostly inedible. The dry chicken bowl was very bland. The dry chicken pepper style was more like a Mexican fajita.
I would give zero if that was a choice because of false advertisement. This is definitely not a Chinese restaurant and it's an insult to the Chinese for calling it that. The chef is not Chinese. Nothing about this restaurant is Chinese down to their sauce! I read the reviews here but to be honest, you cannot review a restaurant as good Chinese restaurant unless you actually been to good Chinese restaurants in New York City, Canada or Asia. I should have went with my instinct and turn around and leave the second I sat down. The $8 egg rolls were definitely not Asian at all. Bland, greasy and made for Americans. The $14 soup dumpling was a joke. No different than the soup dumplings I get from Trader Joe's. Tap water literally taste like tap water. Least you can do is put it through a purifier. I asked few times to make sure the pork chops are made as pork chops. I was told that it was sliced pork chops with rice. So as you can see with the pictures I have provided, what I see is $21 of shredded pork. The ribs $16 was a joke. Flavor was salty and very off. You can't make these dishes without proper Chinese sauce. Thank God I went with better judgement and not ordered the General Tso cause I would have been livid if it was store bought General Tso sauce. Definitely won't recommend this place for Chinese food because The only thing authentic and I agree on about this restaurant were the words on the window: EFFORTLESS MADE CHINESE FOOD.
I travel often for work in this area and this spot is on my list of regular stops. Always great service and tasty food. Some of my favorites are the wontons in chili oil, fried dumps, spicy cucumbers, beef wrapped scallion pancakes, chow fun noodles, any of the dry pots. They make a pretty good manhattan as well. I put $30-50 per because that usually what I spend but I always over order as I want to taste everything.
