I am currently a student at Utica University, and I can tell you, things are falling apart behind the scenes. Between 2022 and 2025, Utica has lost $30 million in revenue and about half of its student body. They are planning to lay off 30 faculty members. Along with poor financial decisions like spending $3 million to restore the cafeteria, many students are worried about the future of the school. The faculty are also scared about losing their jobs, which has led to them underperforming in class. Things will need to change for the situation to improve. I recommend considering other options if you’re thinking about college. Places like MVCC or Poly SUNY Tech could be good choices if you’re local. Sorry, but I can’t hide how bad things are right now.
I am an international student from India, and I did my MBA from Utica University. I highly recommend Utica University to all.
I completed the online graduate healthcare administration program with Utica and had a wonderful experience. The instructors were great and very supportive, I never felt that I didn’t have help or support . Even the library staff is helpful . My advisor was awesome and I am happy I finished my degree with Utica. I know it will bring great career opportunities for me .
I almost applied to the nursing program at Utica BUT I decided to read the reviews first. That did it for me, there were just NOT enough positive student reviews for me. This school sounds familiar to several other schools that offer nursing programs. I will NOT waste my time nor money because it won’t be just a review left if they railroad me. I WILL MAKE THE NEWS & NOT IN A GOOD WAY!! I don’t play with my money.
This school's online program is terrible. My sister went through their online BS RN program, and was told last minute, after graduating from the program, that she would not receive a diploma because she was three credits short. They failed to make this clear during the entire length of the semester, instead only letting her know until after classes had ended and she was supposed to have graduated. They refused to provide any support and instead insisted she complete three more credits (of an elective) in order to graduate. She had already received and accepted a job offer at this point, and is now facing the potential of having to back out of the job because of the school's failure to communicate the 3 outstanding credits. Extremely disappointing, and a complete let down by this school and program.
I enjoyed every minute of it, but your experience here is what you make of it. If you're willing to put yourself out there and take what UC has to offer, then you'll enjoy it. There are 10 things you should consider if you're thinking of applying to this school as a freshman living on campus: 1) The cost of room & board alone is expensive compared to what you can get elsewhere. Other schools offer more dining options & facilities that are open later into the evening and weekends. You get more bang for your student loans elsewhere. Or you can save money by getting an associate's and then transferring over for your junior & senior years. 2) UC has a great PT/OT program. Anything related to health studies is good here. Cybersecurity, computer science and construction management are also trending up. 3) UC's administration does not support Greek life, but Greek life is great for those who want to participate in it. For anyone who doesn't, the good new is you don't need to pledge in order to have a social life on campus. 4) I still frequent the library and gym as an alumnus. Excellent facilities. 5) Intramural competitions are just as fun to watch as they are to participate in. 6) For UC athletics, football games, basketball games and especially hockey games are much-watch sports. 7) Be smart about your partying and you'll be fine. If your idea of partying is dancing and keeping it classy, then you'll need to find the right group of people. Avoid people that want to peer-pressure you into drugs and other dumb things. 8) As a small school, the intimate classroom environment may or may not be for you. If you like having an environment where discussions are frequent and you can get to know your professor, then awesome. If you are the type who likes to be left alone... and you don't like it when the professor checks up on you like a third parent, then perhaps you prefer lecture halls at bigger universities. 9) You might be able to set your class schedule so that you only have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Don't ever do that. It sounds nice until you have 4 exams on the same day and all of your projects and presentations are due at the same time. If you insist on having a weekday or two without classes, then the ideal schedule in my opinion are Mon-Wed-Fri morning classes. 10) Beware of 8-week online classes, unless you are prepared to handle the workload. If you ever take a Monday night class, make sure it's with a professor you enjoy or a class you find interesting. I don't know what it is about Monday nights, just trust me on this one.
For those that are interested in their online graduate program, take my advice and go somewhere else. It's not worth your time and money. You will be grateful you read my review here. This school is brand new with their online graduate program and you will not want to take a chance here. Wasted good amount of time and money, lesson learned.
