Thien Kim Barber Shop

First time coming here to get a haircut. I saw the good reviews and took a chance. Ms.Kim is such an amazing woman. She pays attention to details and if very patient with customers. Her sidekick Lulu is a lovely Host as well, she is a very friendly and well behaved golden doodle! Will definitely be coming back from DC. The distance doesn’t matter. Finding a good barber shop is difficult to find.

We’ve been bringing our 8-year-old here and she is the only barber who truly listens to what he wants. He finally loves his haircut! She’s incredibly kind, great with kids, and we keep coming back. Walk-ins only and absolutely worth it.

Ms. Nguyen always does a fantastic job. Her haircuts are consistent and she has very fine attention to detail. Highly recommend

This is my new spot since moving to Maryland. Ms. Kim gives a great haircut and operates a well kept barbershop. My fiancée said it was the best haircut I've gotten since I've met her. Lulu the dog contributes to a pleasant atmosphere.

What an incredibly NICE barber shop in the center of historic Kensington! I discovered this place totally by accident. It is your classic, old fashioned barber shop...striped pole and everything! Big, spotlessly clean, lots of seating, great hours, and excellent prices. But, the most wonderful part of this place is the lovely Vietnamese lady who runs it - Thien. Not only has Thien created a wonderfully charming setting, but she is possibly one of the best true barbers I've ever met. (Aside: She is a BARBER...not a "hair stylist".) She understands the craft and discipline of cutting hair in the classical barber school way. I've had my hair cut all over the world and I know the difference. My hair can be particularly tricky to cut. She asks the right questions and pauses to get your opinion along the way. Things I normally have to caution barbers about were things she instinctively knew. The result was a perfect collar line, clean profile, and the layers just set in perfectly WITHOUT A DROP of the spray or goop that other barbers use to hide their mistakes. I am not exaggerating about this. When she cut my hair for the first time, I could tell that her work was exceptional. Oh, yeah...she works amazingly fast. This is something I usually worry about with most barbers, but it became obvious why she was an exception. She's really skilled, she knows the specific questions to ask, and she doesn't need to spend time correcting little mistakes (in the way most barbers seem to). For busy people like me, this efficient use of time is worth a lot! There are many slightly cheaper haircuts out there, but you get what you pay for. Considering what an excellent haircut this is, its a real bargain. Give this place a try!

Ms. Kim gives great haircuts and the shop is tended by Lulu, a very cute and friendly dog! What's not to like?
