The Jumping Frog

A must for any book lover who visits Hartford. The Jumping Frog is indeed one of a kind. I understad this is the third location in a long history. It happens to be inside an old Underwood Typewriter factory - such a lovely combination. You have to call beforehand, so as to find your way inside. The very kind owner will give you directions. Be ready for surprises while browsing the crowded shelves, or checking the piles of volumes nearby. I found an excellent primer printed in Hartford at the beginning of the ninettenth century. Boxes of postcards at the front desk held also a lot of interest - their ephemera business is well known in reason of its excellence.

This is definitely a great hidden bookstore. !!!You need to call so the owner can give you the code to enter the building!!! There are many rare books that you will find here. And there is a bookshelf that are free books for grabs.

This is the public-facing bookstore for a business largely devoted to selling ephemera online, if I remember correctly. Small, but packed and some excellent deals. The owner really knows his stock. I was about to purchase one book and he was able to dig out of a deep pile, a nicer edition for an impressive savings. It was a little hard to find based on the directions that Google gives you, being located in an old typewriter factory. But worth the effort if you have the time.

Nice little hidden used bookstore with a lot of history, especially military history.

An amazing find in CT, a must visit if you love to read. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly 🙂
